Well, I am stunned that anyone would think Will Kane 'cowardly'. I mean, if he was cowardly, he would have left town, like everyone was telling him to do. He had a perfect right - it was his wedding day and he technically wasn't even sheriff anymore. But the whole POINT was that he didn't leave town...

Well, given our recent discussion about the board, I thought I'd come in and inject a little controversy here. I didn't watch much on Roy Rogers day...but yesterday I had TCM on as I was doing other things, and at one point, a Roy Rogers film came on - I think it was AT HOME IN OKLAHOMA. Now g...

^ I was waiting for you to show up and comment in this thread! ;) I've not seen MANPOWER yet, but I recorded it the other day. If it's one of your 'highly recommended' Eddie G. films, then I might bump it to the top of the stack. I'd love it if you posted a small list of 'essential Eddie G. vi...

I can't say as I'm super-knowledgeable on this topic, because while I generally like the music in silents, I don't pay that close attention to many individual composers or anything. Obviously I know who Robert Israel and Carl Davis are...and I especially like Robert Israel. And I also know that I li...

^ Bummer. Pretty much what I already knew...but it's still sad to see it confirmed in print. :(

Yes, folks...the situation is looking pretty grim for anyone who can't stay home all day and babysit a machine with no hard drive.....

Being the only Board member who is not a native English speaker affects the quality of my posts, since I don't have the vocabulary range most of you have and I seldom can practice English orally, but still, I try to share as much ideas as I can, switching constantly from Spanish (which is what I'm ...

I think the only thing I've seen of his is To Be Or Not To Be ....which I watched chiefly for Carole Lombard. I can't say as it's anywhere near the top of my Carole Lombard list...but it was okay - pretty funny in parts. I need to give Jack Benny more of a chance than I have though, before I made an...

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I think one of the reasons you aren't getting the volume of responses to your posts that you'd like is that so many of us here are of the same mind. I can't see myself simply posting "Yes, I agree with you, friend," a dozen times if I don't have anything of my ...

I think I'd have to go with Ann Sheridan also. I think she was swell in her films with Cagney. Actually, I enjoyed many of her films from that whole era.

Okay. So now that I've had this Pioneer DVD recorder a couple of weeks, I feel that I've had sufficient experience to comment. First of all, it is a HUGE improvement over the Phillips, in about every way imaginable. It has that well-made feel about it for starters - like my Panasonic does. The remot...

Anne, you are not alone at all in this feeling. I think I've maybe made 10 posts at TCM since this board was founded. But occasionally, I wonder why traffic is slow here and come to discover that everyone from here is posting full stop over there...but not here. I thought I'd do my part and start so...

As Heros falls into the scifi genre, I of course watch it. And bottom line - it's a great show. But one that really needs to be watched in order. Season 2 starts September 24, so if you want to get caught up, now is the time. Not sure how much of season 1 you'll have needed to see to understand seas...

Hard to believe they left out Cagney & Lacey , which I believe made history as the first TV show to be brought back after cancellation by fan protest....and went on to win several awards and be a huge success. Especially since stuff like Bevis & Butthead and Felicity made the list. Also hard...

Here on the east coast, most of us were at work already when it happened, and had little access to TV. CNN.com and the other news sites quickly cracked under the strain of millions of hits, all at the same time, and so we were left with only the radio. I know it was terrible to watch...but only bein...
