Re: I Just Watched...

I saw a couple of episodes of Cybill online and wanted to see more because it seemed fantastic (and I loved Cybill on Moonlighting), but never got around to it. I LOVED it when seeing it in re-runs. The “Dr Dick” schtick got a bit tiring, but I could see desperation/obsession in those kind of Holly...

Re: I Just Watched...

I have never seen CURB YOUR ENTHUISAM. We just began watching it. We were looking for a sitcom to binge and well, there’s 12 seasons. We loved Loudermilk but that was a scant 3 seasons. Curb Your Enthusiasm is funny, but the schtick gets tiring episode after episode. MrTiki likens David to Woody Al...

Re: I Just Watched...

I've never seen an episode of MSW and I do like Angela. 😆 Me too- I feel so left out! Also in the camp of never seeing Big Bang Theory, Home Improvement, Raymond and very few Seinfelds, Simpsons and Golden Girls. Obviously never been a TV sitcom gal. Last one I watched episodes “as released” was BB...

Re: Coming up on TCM...

Yeah, I just watched “A Beautiful Friendship” and was very saddened by how creative & beautiful the station started out & how ordinarily bland it has become. It really hits home seeing the imaginative, clever interstitials we used to see DAILY like the “big band” zippering behind the dolly. ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

The Fisher King is one of my favorite movies of all time (I once visited all the locations in NYC)
I just watched a DVD of Sunday Bloody Sunday because of the stellar leads but only found the story interesting when they were on the screen.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

On the subject of unfortunate names: I knew a woman named Gay Camp, and a friend had taught a student named Gay Dìck. When I first met my in-laws, they told me about their immediate neighbors- the Cox family and the Dix family. I quipped “You’re surrounded by Cox & Dix?” but was the only one wh...

Re: I Just Watched...

Based upon conversation here, I borrowed THE BEST OF EVERYTHING 1959 from the library and watched it the other night. Whew-still catching my breath! I really like catty melodrama, MILDRED PIERCE and BOLD & BEAUTIFUL are two of my favorites. This movie falls in the category but with absolutely NO...

Re: I Just Watched...

this goes to show that the notion that “words can never hurt us” is false. Words can hurt and have been used to hurt and mock. (snipped) I admit that I prefer “queer” to LGBT as an umbrella term. I actually find the alphabet soup offensive. Queer, on the other hand, connotes uniqueness in a positiv...

Re: I Just Watched...

even though it's directed by MICHAEL CURTIZ, it's not good, and that is largely due to JOHN BARRYMORE who is not good in his part and clearly only about 30% committed AND I'M not entirely mad at JOHN for not giving his all, because this movie is pretty much a shameless retread of SVENGALI without t...

Re: In my own little world

A real tip off to that door is that it’s cheapo chipboard. I would use a real wood shelf unit.
It would be a real bonus if you tipped a sconce to unlatch the door.

Re: I Just Watched...

for me, a semantic pedantic, I lament the loss of the word " QUEER" as a GREAT way to say "effing ODD." I've seen a lot of "Odd Fellows" Memorials and meeting houses in my travels. My traveling partner once said "What group would want to be known as the "Odd ...

Re: I Just Watched...

I don't think the word "pansy" is used anymore. Nor is my favorite "Lavender" which I use to describe classic actors of the closeted past like Edward Everett Horton and Clifton Webb. I'd also use Lavender to describe Patsy Kelly. I find "pansy" insulting. Most in my ci...

Look like Streisand, huh? She's much prettier than I but have to admit her beauty helped me accept my big nose. This looks old but cracked me up: https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/100073621_10158268733678745_6738878110617305088_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048&_nc_...

Re: I Just Watched...

Another bleak round of dealing with the Oscars, and with the glum 2000s, and with uncomfortable issues such as Nazis, concentration camps, cloning, serial killers, warfare, govermental corruption, and sundry other issues. I wish I could give this post 2 thumbs up. Your writing is succinct with thou...

Re: Humorous Memes

https://i.imgur.com/OSHtBUy.jpg I get really annoyed when people dismiss really cool ideas with one destructive word like that. Why have some so wholly embraced mean criticisms as funny? If anyone can find a meme of an old lady bewildered/offended by changing culture I'd appreciate it. Masha seems ...
