I am sooooo excited for the release of this set! Mickey and Judy were such a great team--well matched in physical stature, energy, and talent. My favorite film of theirs is the tuneful Girl Crazy . The special features sound fantastic! This just in: someone down the street just shot off two very LOU...

Thanks for the review of Holiday, Feaito! I'd love to see this earlier version. I can picture Mary Astor perfectly in the role of Julia Seton! Perhaps TCM can get the rights to show this one someday.

:D

I only caught about the first 20 minutes of The Howards of Virginia . I was recording it as well, until I tried to use the toaster and the microwave at the same time (making some tasty BLT's) and tripped the breaker. So, that ruined my recording, as the power went out to the tv! I've decided that Ca...

I always watch Easter Parade on Easter. I'm not one for religious films.

I have lots of Christmas movies that I watch during the holiday season. But, I always try to watch Meet Me in St. Louis on Christmas Eve.

I second Ben's recommendation of The Prestige . Different than the usual Hollywood fare these days. The ending is great. I saw The Illusionist as well, and I enjoyed it. The main difference between these two magician flicks is that The Illusionist is more of a love story with intrigue, and The Prest...

My mother took me to see the 1949 version of Little Women when I was 9 years old. It was a showing at the Cleveland Museum of Art. I LOVED it! Maybe boys would be bored, but I think that most girls would love either version. Maybe I was a weird kid, but I liked stuff like Bringing Up Baby and Mr. Sm...

Anne, I've never been a smoker, so I can't directly relate to your struggle...BUT I did want to chime in and say HANG IN THERE! YOU CAN DO IT! My favorite aunt was a heavy smoker. She had emphysema and coughed up blood. She died when I was 16. What I wouldn't give for a few more years with her. She ...

Moira, thanks for the detailed explanation of why SHolmes was banned.

Also, thanks to Moira, klondike, and Jon for keeping things civil here.

I watched The Wind this morning for the first time. I would've never thought of it in the terms that you put forth, Jon, but it makes perfect sense to me. I had always heard that it was a film about a woman going insane because of the wind. But sexual awakening makes so much more sense. Letty (Lilli...

Anne, I watched that series too about the Massachusetts colony. PBS had two other similar series, one was Victorian House about an English family that lived in a Victorian house as a family of that time, and one was called Pioneer House (I think), about 3 families that traveled by covered wagon and ...

I have never heard ANYONE compare Kevin Costner to Gary Cooper before this article! I do not see any similarities at all! I do like Kevin Costner as an actor, even though he did make that TERRIBLE Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves . What a horrible case of miscasting that was. To me, Cooper is an All-Am...

The "pricegrabber" code worked for me.

My mother-in-law gave me $50 for my birthday and I bought the Astaire and Rogers vol. 2 boxset AND the new Marilyn Monroe boxset at DDD. My total was $51.67!!! A steal! And the shipping is free!

Putting on the Ritz! (shouted in a slurry monster voice)

He vas my BOYFRIEND!

Put the candle BACK!

Seriously, I could quote that movie all day..

one from Midnight Cowboy: I'm walkin' here!

Taxi Driver: You talkin' to me?
