Re: CENTENNIAL

. While I agree the 'pontification' and the 'capitalism' are a bit tiresome, they are both given as an entreaty to the audience to 'please be aware' of what they are doing to the earth. Oddly enough, those writers have proven to be correct on all counts haven't they? Most politicians are more intere...

movieman:

The last two parts are on tonight, but I have a vague memory that the final episode was kind of lame. I'll see tonight.

Re: Storm Clouds in our Future?

. Lz: Although I live a fairly comfortable life on my social security and my late husbands and my pensions, it still doesn't allow for trips like the TCM Film Festivals. I would have loved to attend one before I leave this earth but it just is not in the cards for me, so I've never had an opportuni...

Re: Storm Clouds in our Future?

. Since it's is a relatively small audience that is attracted to classic movies, if a subscriber fee is required, it may only be as small as $5.00 a month. They've been trying to attract younger views for years, and apparently are not doing very well so they may become either another AMC with comme...

CENTENNIAL

. Is anyone else enjoying this replay of Centennial like I am? For one thing, it's a treat to watch it with no commercial breaks since it's on the Western channel on Encore, for two, it's like seeing it for the first time after all these years, surprising since I was in my late twenties when it was ...

The New Look

. I like the new look a lot with the movie star strip across the top, but . . . It makes the print so small, that I have trouble reading it, even with my glasses on. Are there any empty spaces that could be eliminated, or show one or two less posts per page? I'm sorry, I hate to be critical of it, b...

Re: 2014 tv shows new and continuing

kingrat: In case you didn't see the movie Endless Night yet, I won't say anything. But if you did DVR it, I hope you also DVR'd the show that followed with David Suchet examining Ms. Christie's life. I think they showed back to back movies in order to get this one in as well. In the Suchet show, is...

Re: 2014 tv shows new and continuing

I had my own private little marathon yesterday watching Outlander from early morning to late night, with a break for my Saturday night PBS favorites. I realized the other day that I had way too many shows on DVR and knew I would not likely see them all so I did weed them out a bit with episodes of ...

Re: PBS

. Well, I finished watching the Roosevelts and was impressed with the detail taken to be correct except for the minor references to Daisy Suckley, fifth cousin to FDR. If anyone saw Hyde Park on Hudson, you know there was a lot more to their relationship than was inferred in the Burns movie. Apparen...

Re: 2014 tv shows new and continuing

. There are so many science-fiction type shows on this year that I get them confused now and then, but I am enjoying all of them with the help of my DVR . . . * Under the Dome * Resurrection * The Left overs * Haven (I'm so glad it's back) * Outlander . . . to name a few. I also was able to watch Ma...

Re: PBS

.The Roosevelts is quite riveting. I hope some of you saw the preview programs PBS aired 2 weeks ago as an introduction to what was coming in the Burns movie. It helped a bit to have a little early knowledge. Kingrat, did you see the special documentary of "Becoming Poirot" which showed h...

Re: Cheating just a little

. Well Weste Guy, as usual I got a couple of things screwed up. I was looking for a young P.L Travers in the cast list, and this a.m. I watched it again and realized the little girl was referred to as Ginty, not Helen which it turns out is her real name. Actually her name is Annie Rose Buckley and ...

Cheating just a little

. HOTEL I truly enjoyed watching Hotel the other night and got a kick out of some of the things that really dated it. The old, old fashioned room keys for example, that were so easy to copy. Also, walking in and asking for the room of a visitor, and getting it - ha, ha. And wouldn't it be fun to tak...

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

. Not the greatest of fans either but, I had to admire her enormous tenacity and vitality. I will miss her popping up on various shows now and then and I do feel sad for her daughter who had finally formed a close relationship the last few years. It will be hard to go on alone. Rest in peace Joan. .

At first I thought maybe they were owl feathers that were left in the wounds, but remembered even before the show started that it was definitel...
