Re: Someone's having a birthday!

I apologize I missed out on further wishes for my birthday.. thanks, Miss Finnie and FXReyman too. (and I hope your b-day was first rate, Mr. Movieman!) Meanwhile.. wishing a very happy birthday to Bronxgirl. Not sure if she still visits here or not.. but if so, I hope she has a truly lovely day!

Re: PBS

Hi Mr. Movieman. Count me in as a Doc Martin fan (albeit a less educated one, than you) I have only managed to catch maybe half a dozen or so episodes over the last several months (or so) but I agree.. it grows on you. At first viewing I thought. ok.. this is just dry as it can be.. ha. And I almost...

Re: Series Finales

Several really good ones have already been mentioned. I especially loved the Newhart one too. COMPLETELY unexpected. Two that stand out for me: Magnum PI (wow.. what a grueling lead up w/ the those last few episodes) and I also really enjoyed pretty much the whole last season (and the last several e...

Re: Ann Sothern as TCM Star of the Month

Just have to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed The Whales of August last night. I had never seen this film before and it really was something special. The cast was terrific.. Miss Gish, Miss Davis, Mr. Price AND Miss Sothern (ha. she was a lot of fun and quite "whimsical) and even a nice role f...

Re: Let's talk about Jesse Stone

I enjoyed the Jesse Stone series of films very much. I think he is a terrific character and really well played by Selleck. He's flawed (extremely so) but he wears it well. Sometimes he can almost break your heart. And yet.. he manages to get up, and keep going. One day at a time.. one step at a time...

Re: Tom Selleck as a cowboy

I like him as a cowboy. He's got an "amiable" quality about him that makes you think he'd be an alright guy to travel along the dusty trail.. ha. But yes, the Movieman said it right.. you know when "he means business" too, because he's very believably tough when it is needed. It ...

Re: Holiday Films

Merry Christmas, Mr. Movieman.. I have a lot of favorites for the Christmas season especially.. but tippy top of the list for me has to be some rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" (in one form or another, ha.. what can I say, I am a sucker for a good "repentance" st...

Oh me.. just the thought of counting those countless hours... I am sure I would have to crawl in a hole and never show my face in the light of day again, ha.

Re: Truly Guilty Pleasures

This is a fun thread idea. (and some of the shows you all are mentioning are ones I enjoy too.) I loved the Waltons.. and Little House.. and Bonanza, when they were all "new" and I do still enjoy watching them from now and then in the present day reruns, too. Though I confess, some episode...
