Re: Noir Alley
Highway 301 is the special one for me. I wrote about it here on SSO on May 23, 2014. Few things are more exhilarating than stumbling upon Noir treasure: HIGHWAY 301 (Andrew Stone 1950). I stumbled upon it about two-and-a-half years ago. It only gets better on the Big Screen. You know it's going to ...

Re: JOAN BENNETT FOR SOTM THIS CENTURY
My favorite female film noir actor. To wit (and in my preferential order):
Scarlet Street
The Reckless Moment
The Woman in the Window
Secret Beyond the Door
Hollow Triumph
Woman on the Beach
Then there are her other films. Yes, TCM Star of the Month is due.

Re: Holiday Films
Five-and-a-half years ago, I attended a French film noir festival in Santa Monica where Bertrand Tavernier was a guest and introduced the films. One of the offerings was this gem. What I wrote then follows: Tavernier introduced the final film of the day, the seldom-screened LE MONT-CHARGE aka PARIS ...

Re: Eegah (1962)
Then there's The Last Time I Saw Archie (Jack Webb 1961) wherein Robert Mitchum portrays Arch Hall Sr. Even though it has an interesting cast - from Mitchum to Don Knotts, from Martha Hyer to Harvey Lembeck, with a screenplay by William Bowers - it never grabs me.
I'll stick with Arch Hall Jr.

Re: Eegah (1962)
The Choppers and Wild Guitar are both decidedly better than Eegah . Such is evident due to the lobby card of the former and one-sheet of the later hanging in our home. Plus, Bruno Ve Sota appears in The Choppers and Ray Dennis Steckler directs and appears in Wild Guitar . Those, however, are kicked...

Re: Happy Anniversary!
Hey, Chris? Did you survive? We had a lovely weekend (not counting the wind and rain). Hope you did, too.
It suddenly hit me on Friday that I've been married to MrsChiO for one-half of my life. I said, "Yikes!" She said, "You're lucky."
Thanks, Knitty!

Although it should be obvious, the two most beautiful granddaughters in the world are the Director/Stage Manager and the Comedian taking the pratfall and bows.
It's the first time I've enjoyed The Sound of Music. Granddaughters do that to you.

Re: What are you listening to?
We've seen Jimmy Webb twice in concert - once when he was the historical Jimmy Webb, and once when he was clean and sober. The music didn't change dramatically, but the patter between songs certainly did. Especially his recounting of Glenn Campbell and the recording of "Wichita Lineman".

What I learned by means of several root canals (have another scheduled for July): Never take the pain-killers in anticipation of pain; only when there is pain.

Re: The whiny thread
I've had so many root canals that my dentist is trying to get me to grow new teeth so that she can stay in practice.
Good luck, PT.
