Re: Sidney Buchman
SPOILERS I remembering reading that there were also disagreements with Jews not properly translating the Torah during that time. This may have increased lack of faith among Jews during that time. This may have pushed some of them toward Communism. Back to Sidney Buchman. I find Here comes Mr. Jordan...

Sidney Buchman
Hello Everyone, As you know, Sidney Buchman is a screenwriter who wrote the screenplays for films like Mr. Smith goes to Washington and Here comes Mr. Jordan (1941). But I deeply appreciate what Buchman did for Here comes Mr. Jordan (1941). With Seton Miller, Sidney Buchman wrote the screenplay for ...

The Night Digger (1971)
SPOILERS Hello Everyone, Although The Night Digger doesn't belong in the category of Sci-Fi, still I felt that it belongs in the category of Horror. What do you think about this film? Recently, I got a chance to watch The Night Digger DVD released by Warner Bros. I was horrified by the terrible cond...

Re: ALFRED HITCHCOCK
I thought I should put my review on Alfred Hitchcock's only musical Waltzes from Vienna (1934). Hitchcock's only Musical and a great one A Great Musical Film by Hitchcock. He made this film when he was at the lowest point of his career. But he put all of his efforts into this project. I love the hum...

Is there a particular segment that you like in Fantasia? A friend of mine particularly likes Sorceror's Apprentice with Mickey Mouse.

Re: Walt Disney and his animated films (1937 -1966)
Hello, Both are interesting films, Mongo. With Black Cauldron, I thought the film had a good plot. But that's just my opinion. Mr. Arkadin, if you are interested in reading my review on why I like The Black Cauldron, then here it is. I know you always give interesting replies. So I thought I should ...

Re: Walt Disney and his animated films (1937 -1966)
Hello Mr. Arkadin, It must be noted that the original cut of the Black Cauldron was "a little more" closer to the film. But it was changed due to objections from the studio executives. Deleted Scenes are available on youtube. As you know, this is what Lloyd Alexander said about The Black C...

Re: Walt Disney and his animated films (1937 -1966)
You can put the shorts of Walt Disney too. I found Pinocchio interesting especially with the scene where he smokes and how much he is affected by it. I like The Hunchback of Notredame especially because of Quasimodo and the villain Frollo. I always wondered why people hated The Black Cauldron. I alw...

Re: ALFRED HITCHCOCK
I think Hitchcock's version would have looked far better. In the released version, Gregory Peck looks like a dumb lawyer. This is because Selznick cut some of his "interesting" scenes. The Paradine Case does have some good qualities in its released version. But it looks dull, because of th...

Re: ALFRED HITCHCOCK
I think the film would have been better if the post production was done under Hitchcock. Selznick did the post production. That's why it has lots of weak points. In Hitchcock's Original Cut, Ethel Barrymore had lot more scenes. But they were removed by Selznick. In the released version (114 minutes)...

Re: ALFRED HITCHCOCK
What do you all think about The Paradine Case? I think it is a great film. I think it is one of Hitchcock's best films with visual touches. But what are the weak points? Selznick's meddling. He removed many of Hitchcock's suspense and psychological touches in the film. In rough cut and 131 minutes v...
