Re: The B'y to H'd Musical that has never been on VHS or DVD

Sorry for the confusion. Maybe I should have made this three separate posts in three different areas.

"The Artist" is simply the last film listed in the book.

To give you a chance to guess what film it might be, the musical that has never been on VHS or DVD is hidden in the youtube URL.

The B'y to H'd Musical that has never been on VHS or DVD

I’m putting this in musicals, since that seems the best place for it, although it could be in new reads or, for a reason shortly to be mentioned, under youtube viewing. Just finished reading “Musicals on the Silver Screen: A Guide to the Must-See Movie Musicals,” by Leonard Kniffel (Huron Street Pre...

Re: CANDIDS II

Love the pair-up of Lon and Peter. Funny how you never think of height differences unless you see two actors side by side (and you can see their feet, so you know neither one is standing in a trench). On the other hand, width is always with you, as capitalized on so successfully by Oliver and Stanley.

Re: Biopics

And, of course, the prize for questionable accuracy (although it was a very enjoyable picture) goes to Cary Grant as Cole Porter in Night and Day.

Re: Biopics

You know what? I think I like film biographies! Me toooo! I fact, while watching it, I like to tell myself that Citizen Kane is a biopic. And let us give a deep bow in the direction of the King of the Bipopic Actors: James Cagney, who left us not one but two of the greatest playing Lon Chaney and G...

Re: CANDIDS II

I really need to watch GWTW. I have never seen it! All the classics I've watched, hundreds and hundreds of films, and yet I still haven't seen what is regarded as the greatest of them. I even own it and haven't gotten to it! It's just long, and I hesitate to start every time because of that. ...

So very true. However, let's not forget the most important rule of all, the Sanity Clause.

Re: CANDIDS II

Enjoyed the photos and comments from all on Tommy Kirk. Being a few years older, I remember him fondly from my childhood, all the way back to "The Hardy Boys." That means I can also fondly remember TOMMY TETTIG in his original performances, including that wonderful Dr. Seuss film, The 5,00...

Re: Holiday Films

Thanks, Moira, for reminding me that We're No Angels is a Holiday picture. It's always been one of my favorites. Everyone in the cast seemed to be having a ball making the film (and the joy was contagious), even that mean old Rasil Bathbone! No, much as I wish it was true, that spoonerism isn't orig...

I guess her perfectly-honed sharp tongue in that series gave the awards panel acid reflux.

Sorry, I meant number seven.

As for Boris, at least he had more lines than in Frankie Part 1.

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner

Congratulations on another GREAT banner. And this is perfect for the season. I find I can do better than usual on naming them, in fact there's only one I can't even guess at, but I won't name any, leaving it to whoever can name all nine. For the record, as already mentioned, number nine is one of my...

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Movie Quotes for the Banner

Since Masha has pointed out that we shouldn't wait until Dec. 25 to start being kind to each other, let me jump in with the obvious suggested quote for you-know-when:

"Every time you hear a bell ring, it means that some angel just got his wings."
