To represent Eddie properly, his actual quote was that Follow Me Quietly is "one of the first contemporary serial killer movies made in Hollywood."
I'm sure he will say more this weekend.

Re: Noir Alley
Noir Alley this weekend is featuring Follow Me Quietly (1949). Eddie mentioned last week that the film is one of the first to present the concept of a serial killer. At 60 minutes long, it is also one of the shortest films shown on Noir Alley. Eddie has previously introduced the film on the weekend ...

Re: TCM Premieres....
For those who have not looked at the schedule yet, the theme that evening is "Created by George Stevens Jr." - TCM has paired it with the premiere of another mini-series presented as a feature The Murder of Mary Phagan (1988). Stevens produced and wrote both series. But I don't want to get...

Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted
So each Fox star gets a couple of movies shown, is that how they are doing it? I guess that way, they can say they covered Fox stars as SOTM w/out spending too much money doing it.... That's what it looks like, based on the June 4 schedule. Unfortunately it might be a few more weeks before they rel...

Thanks, TCM does have an excuse. Disappointing nonetheless.CinemaInternational wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 3:35 pm This was a United Artist title which the modern-day MGM still has the rights to, so WB does not own this title, rather Amazon, MGM's current owner holds the right so the mistake is on their end.

Secrets (1933), on TCM. I've noticed a disturbing trend in a few of the movies shown on TCM lately - the adoption of a 'widescreen' stretch for what should be Academy aspect ratio films. Secrets (1933) last night is an example. What was shown: https://i.imgur.com/ZkC2wv2.png What it is supposed to ...

Thank you for the Sessue Hawakawa reference. To go along with the article, here are the films TCM has scheduled this month: 5-6 The Cheat (1915) The Dragon Painter (1919) The Tong-Man (1919) (a TCM premiere) 5-13 Tokyo Joe (1949) The Geisha Boy (1958) Daughter of the Dragon (1931) 5-20 House of Bamb...

Re: May 2024 Schedule Posted, Asian Stars featured
TCM has posted an article on their website that explains a special theme for May called "The Art of Artifice," which I could try to summarize as how the movies make fictional places and stories seem real: https://www.tcm.com/articles/Programming%20Article/021901/the-art-of-artifice The Art...

The Anatole Litvak tribute includes The Long Night and The Journey. Has The Long Night ever been shown on Noir Alley? The Peter Lorre tribute includes Three Strangers and Hotel Berlin, both of which I would be happy to see again. Three Strangers also belongs on Noir Alley, as does a film scheduled ...
