Re: Noir Alley
The Guilty (1947) A low budget wonderful noir from Monogram Studios, with a well-earned surprise ending. Bonita Granville plays twins, one of whom is a femme fatale. Granville’s petulant persona from her past films morphs into an effective seductress, easily manipulating WWII vets Don Castle and Wa...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I saw Scorchy on YouTube. Very poor quality so kind of hard to see what Stevens shows.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Scorchy is apparently available on YouTube and/or Tubi (Shout).
Never cared for Susan Slade that much and thought she ever performed poorly or was poorly directed in Susan Slade.
More importantly, how many movies have been ruined by Troy Donahue?

Re: Noir Alley
While not a very good movie, Violence did keep my interest long enough to finish watching it.
As Eddie surreptiously noted the parallels to today's American political scene are disturbing.

Re: Coming up on TCM...
Ironic, TCM has been around so long that I forget we did not have it before 1994. Of course, I forget a lot of things - at least that is what my wife keeps telling me. I assume Ted Turner gets credit somewhere for the creation of TCM? From a little ol' independent station in Atlanta GA to cable &quo...

Re: Noir Alley
I searched Eddie Muller's intros and outros on YouTube the other day and there are a lot of them. Seems hard to believe there have been that many Noir Alleys. Of course some are repeats. I don't think I have seen Violence. Michael O'Shea has one of those faces that I remember when I see him, but onl...

Re: What B&W films would you consider visually "beautiful"?
The Big Steal is a "beautiful" movie to me because so much of it was filmed outdoors on location in Mexico. Especially the scenes at the Hotel Penafiel in Tehuacán, But, all the travelling and city scenes add "beaurty" as well.

Re: Noir Alley
I had seen Where Danger Lives and it's OK, but not all that good. In fact, I made a DVD of it, but never play it. I have seen Domergue in a few other movies, including the Sci-Fi ones and her performance is less impressive in them. I frequently re-watch the Perry Mason episodes on DVD, but can't act...

Re: M*A*S*H The TV Show
I saw the movie in theaters when it premiered - ironically I was in the Army with orders for Vietnam when I saw it. Great movie. The first year of the TV series was fairly good and entertaining, but after that it became the Alan Alda Show. I never really cared for the show after that, although I did...

Re: Noir Alley
Noir Alley question. Did anyone record Stage Fright along with Eddies comments a few wks back? He referenced some novel by some woman writer that was connected to the film somehow/or someone connected to the film. I meant to write down the title for future reading, but I forgot the name before I ev...

Robert Mitchum on Tuesdays
Tuesday, Jan 30 brings another Robert Mitchum night and morning. My recommendations are The Grass is Greener at 8 PM, Cape Fear at 10 PM, Farewell My Lovely at 2 AM. Probably not a bad movie in the lot, but these are ones I really like. Assuming you can get past all the West Point drivel on Tuesday ...

Re: I Just Watched...
Ah yes, the 70's. 1970 ended with me in Vietnam and then returning in 1971 to America to teaching in a last gasp of segregation high school. Then there was Watergate, Nixon resignation, Ford failing to gain support and Jimmy Carter-a good man who was not ready for American style of government- Arab ...

Just watched Woman in Hiding and think it is pretty good, all things considered. Probably a 3 out of 4 stars. At least a 2+. Biggest draw back would be too many things happen that are improbable. Having spent time in the areas where it supposedly happens may influence my rating. Glad Ronald Reagan ...

https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.00PNajyFCSwPqIBSCFj6zAAAAA?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain We have the DVD set of the Hildegarde Withers movies. Oliver definitely better than the ones who followed. Actually, Murder on A Honeymoon is a favorite of ours - watch it often. Withers was on vacation and decided to ...
