Re: SPORTS
I wouldn’t worry too much Thompson. This isn’t the old forum. Moderation is moderate. Up here in Northern California, we have a new baseball team in Oakland. Not MLB. Don’t know what it’s called. We also have a new WNBA team. The is the final season for the A’s in Oakland. Then Sacramento until they...

Re: AFI's 25 GREATEST MOVIE MUSICALS OF ALL TIME
Okay, Jimi is 66 years old. I lived 17 miles outside the city of Napa, California. That said, we had one movie theater, with one screen, and a drive in. The only film I saw on the big screen from the list is Mary Poppins. The Sound of Music on broadcast TV along with The Wizard of Oz. There are a fe...

Re: AFI's 25 GREATEST MOVIE MUSICALS OF ALL TIME
I was pleasantly surprised the first version of Show Boat made it, it is so much better than the 1951 version. Agree strongly even though I liked seeing it in color. -------- Personally, I'd yank The Wizard of Oz (1939), Cabaret (1972), Mary Poppins (1964), and definitely Moulin Rouge (2001). I kno...

Re: OBITUARIES
Dabney Coleman was excellent in On Golden Pond.
He was a bad guy in an episode of Columbo.
He made bad good.
I hope TCM can do a modest tribute, at least half a day.
Funny how I've seen nothing on TV news.

Re: For Bronxgirl48: Mother's Day
A Music Box Godzilla marathon? I'd fly into The Windy City just for that! Of course, MOMMIE DEAREST ("Don't f*ck with me, fellas! This isn't my first rodeo!") and THE BIRDCAGE ("Fosse! Fosse! Fosse!") aren't exactly chopped liver... I'd love to see THE BIRDCAGE on the "big ...

Re: AFI's 25 GREATEST MOVIE MUSICALS OF ALL TIME
All in all, this is the best list from AFT I've ever seen. Sure, it's not mine, but it's not heavily weighted toward recent films, and it includes some essential films. Actually KR, I've noticed over the years that all the various categories of the AFI "Best Lists" tend not to be heavily ...

The Simpsons would say, "Been there, done that."LostHorizons wrote: ↑May 14th, 2024, 5:48 pm Best cartoon currently on tv is Smiling Friends. They had a Trump parody episode last night.
Not that I watch the show, just aware of how they have even focused on Ben Matlock.

I remember Johnny Quest. It came on later in the morning.
Looking back, I'd say it may have been geared for people older than me. I was a pre-teen at the time.

Re: For Bronxgirl48: Mother's Day
I treated by mom and my maternal grandmother to a screening of ROMAN HOLIDAY at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago on Mother's Day. Grandma will be 80 next month. The Music Box Theater is lovely. I am excited for the Liz & Monty series they are running. I am going to be busy this summer, but hope...

Re: For Bronxgirl48: Mother's Day
For the record/clarity: My brother's mother-in-law will be 83 next month. She does not look it except for her hair being natural now. I did not intentionally mean to say the wrong thing, but I may have my foot in my mouth anyway. You may recall Wynonna and Naomi Judd (from left to right): Naomi is n...
