I've just watched the early talkie "Pointed Heels" (1929), which has some fine camera movement and shots, not usual of early talking pictures. It's the film where I've seen Helen Kane at her best, singing "I Have to Have You" to Skeets Gallagher and delivering some funny lines. ...

Well as I suspected I was out all of the weekend and just now getting out of the tub. Doesn't it just thrill you to know that? I had fun though. Went out to Pineville to camp on the Big Sugar Creek. I did get some films in Friday night I've had in my stack for ages. A couple here I've been wanting t...

Re: Blackbird

Wow...I don't think I've ever seen this version. Might I be lucky and discover it is a special feature on the Bogart version? :D The Maltese Falcon set that came out last winter (or so) includes all three versions: 1931, 1936 and 1941 (among a plethora of extras). Thanks for the info ... I've never...

I'd like to see this someday. I realize it's not a comedy but after seeing Bonita Granville in "Merrily We Live" and "Miracle Of Morgans Creek" I have since wanted to see her more. I was very impressed with her acting and got curious about her in a dramatic role ...

Thanks for the quick info on that ... yes, I'm familiar with both songwriters but never heard that combination before. One forgets that Steve Lawrence was really an excellent singer. It was Edie Gorme that I didn't really like much except for her one poppy tune "Blame It On The Bossa Nova"...
