Re: JOAN BENNETT FOR SOTM THIS CENTURY
I talked to Joan Bennett in 1971 when she was a guest on the Alex Bennett radio program. I told her I had recently seen SHE KNEW ALL THE ANSWERS and enjoyed it very much. She said "talk about digging up the obscure ones! Well at least you didn't call about DARK SHADOWS!". Funny thing is, I...

Thanks for sharing the Linx! Yes, I've been stranded on the Oasis for a wee bit now. And with TCM chloroforming it's boards it is even more of an oasis!

Select Classics on Blu-Ray from Chelsea Rialto Studios
Not having posted here in a while I thought I'd mention that, in addition to classic soundtracks, Chelsea Rialto Studios is now offering BD-R's of a select group of titles. Here are the promo trailers for the blu-ray titles currently available at http://www.chelsearialtostudios.com https://vimeo.com...

It's going to be interesting to see just how far Discovery goes in reimaging and repurposing TCM.

Re: Ben Johnson
I recently spotted Ben when I ran my print of THE NAUGHTY NINETIES (1945). He drives a barouche that brings Bud & Lou to a casino.

Re: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (1944)
Universal was very fond of this picture, too. In fact, they recycled a lot of footage and had Frank Puglia repeat his performance in the remake SWORD OF ALI BABA. But Gavin MacLeod was certainly no Kurt Katch!!

BROTHERS IN THE SADDLE
Just thought I'd post here that I'm looking for a 16mm print of RKO's BROTHERS IN THE SADDLE with Tim Holt and Steve Brodie. My print, unfortunately, has about 15 minutes that was removed by a tv station.

Re: Silver River (1948)
My only problem with SILVER RIVER is the finish. It's very pat and a weak wind-up to a complicated story that had audiences invest nearly two hours of their time. But overall it's quite a good picture. And, of course, it's got a dynamite Steiner score.

Re: The Big Sky (1952)
Warners' 35mm print of the 122 minute "narration" version was augmented (with narration-by-Hunnicutt replaced by original subtitles) by use of a 16mm print. I'm not sure why the sound was so poor on the inserts. I have a complete 140 minute print struck in 1952 and the sound is very dynami...
