Re: Lawman (TV series)

it seemed like a description of most of the characters that James Garner would portray

Absolutely, Chio! When my mom watched THE ART OF LOVE, she said, "I take it Maverick is up to his usual shenanigans!"

I literally haven't seen this show in fifty years. Talk about a little grey hair!

Re: Destry Rides Again!

Let's ride this 4 year-old thread a little farther! A comic, western romance. This adventure with a light touch works beautifully. Love the characters. Stewart "ums and wells" his way in and out of precarious situations as if it's an art form. The most threatening of those pitfalls being t...

Re: Paul Fix - The Rifleman

A wonderful type! Like John Mcintyre and Harry Carey, his presence takes over a scene. I agree he's a lot like Carey. Ray Teal is another one like that. Not as gruff. But so unique and engaging you can't look away. He, also, can be spotted in many a western setting!

Re: Yvonne de Carlo Westerns, Sunday, June 26th

Golly, fella,we all make mistakes!

I once posted that Michael Curtiz directed THE OLD DARK HOUSE, in reality a James Whale film. I must have confused it with MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM, a film from the same time period, but bearing few similarities. Oh, well...

Re: Yvonne de Carlo Westerns, Sunday, June 26th

There was a silly, sort of battle of the sexes western called FRONTIER GAL. Rod "Whatever happened to him" Cameron was the hero. I believe Yvonne played the feisty femme. This one seems to have been lost to the ages. Haven't seen it in decades.

Re: MacKenna's Gold (1969): A Fool and His Money

Catwoman, Kojak and Lurch! At least some TV stalwarts got some work! I haven't seen this in its entirety, but that Peck can just do no wrong. He has a quiet introspective quality that intrigues me. THE STALKING MOON is not bad. I must tip my stetson to those filmmakers who didn't abandon the western...

Re: Orson Welles and The War Of The Worlds Radio Play

Paul Shenar really was good. The show cleverly suggests that, with Nazism on the rise, invasion by monsters was a real threat indeed. But Martians were the least of our worries. I don't know if Welles and his crew considered that angle. But it makes for good drama.

Re: Orson Welles and The War Of The Worlds Radio Play

Allow me to boost this interesting thread. I was referred by another. This is an absolutely fascinating episode of our cultural history. In fact, last Halloween, we parodied it on the radio station where I worked. As far as I know, no one left town a panic! My mother also remembered this incident. H...

Re: Agnes Moorehead

I like Aggie in DARK PASSAGE too. I can't think of anything I DON'T like her in. Another poster said, when she's on screen, everybody else simply fades into the background. Positively. Some people find DARK PASSAGE disappointing. I think it's just fine. It's not MALTESE FALCON; not HIGH SIERRA. But ...

Re: Double Indemnity - 1944 Film Noir Classic

I'm glad nobody challenged my inclusion of THE GLASS KEY. It does have a pretty Andy Hardy ending for a crime story. But the brutal beating of Alan Ladd, the family oriented plot element; that's some pretty dark stuff. Certainly not one of the perfect examples of the genre. But it's closer to noir t...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Last night I watched Preminger's BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING for the first, and let me assure you, the last time! A couple of years ago, poster Ann Harding had this to say: Alas, after this great beginning, the story started to disintegrate into some kind of 'supermarket psychology' that made it quite sil...

Concerning the title of this thread: Is there such a thing as ROUTINE zombie information? Would that be softball results? Labor day picnics? Zombie class reunions?
