Re: For Bronxgirl48: Mother's Day
I treated by mom and my maternal grandmother to a screening of ROMAN HOLIDAY at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago on Mother's Day. Grandma will be 80 next month. https://i.imgur.com/SpUooRNm.jpg The Music Box Theater is lovely. I am excited for the Liz & Monty series they are running. I am going...

Re: I Just Watched...
I've seen The Intruder two or three times over the years, though not recently. I think it nails the atmosphere of a poor small southern town in the early 60s pretty well. It's a rather disheartening place, right down to Shatner's shabby hotel room. And Kirk is believable as the manipulative conman ...

I hope I remember to record this. I haven't seen it since it appeared in theaters and don't remember much about it.

Re: I Just Watched...
I would watch PERRY MASON a lot more consistently if there was a viewing option WITHOUT SO MANY ADS. it's on FREEVEE with ads and PARMOUNT + (unedited, I think) but with ads and some kind of weird religious-legal-family channel/Christmas movie outlet via HULU with SO. MANY. ADS. I mute them or I wa...

Wow. I hadn't heard of Corman's death (or Damon's either) What a long life! I didn't realize he was that old.

Re: Coming up on TCM...
So sorry I missed this. I love Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. I must not have checked the tv schedule that night. :( Even if you had remembered you would not have been able to see it. There was a glitch in the video on TCM that evening so it was replaced with another showing of Carnival Story . TCM has...

Re: I Just Watched...
Perry Mason again! Perry Jr. was on again over the wknd. How many episodes was he in? According to imdb, the actor (Karl Held) is still with us at 92! He was a cutie (if a little bland in the show). I watched one episode he was in recently where he Indian wrestled some wharf rat type in a saloon and...

Re: I Just Watched...
Hundreds of Beavers (2022) Get your mind out of the gutter--it's about a mild-mannered applejack distiller who is ruined by marauding beavers. He responds by reinventing himself as a backwoods fur trapper. LOL!!!!! It's a live-action film (the beavers and other animals are played by adult-sized hum...

Re: For Bronxgirl48: Mother's Day
And what would Mother's Day be without a showing of I Remember Mama?? (I've heard the rare times they don't show it they get a lot of complaints!) I rarely miss it. Love this film and Irene Dunne is so great in it. Great direction by George Stevens too.

After doing some checking, the final chase scene of Follow Me Quietly was done at the Los Angeles Gas Works near Union Station. (now demolished).

Odd, because the Hollywood Walk of Fame didn't even start until 1960, as an attempt to revive what was fast becoming a derelict neighborhood. Manners had been out of the Hollywood spotlight for a quarter century by then. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which manages the scheme, star...

Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted
State Fair (1933) is down for Janet Gaynor but, as in the case of Thelma Ritter / Jeanne Crain, the real star attraction is Will Rogers as the head of the farm family. A young Lew Ayers is in it too. I think TCM showed it way back but I still have my copy from AMC days and that was a terrible print...
