Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted
State Fair (1933) is down for Janet Gaynor but, as in the case of Thelma Ritter / Jeanne Crain, the real star attraction is Will Rogers as the head of the farm family. A young Lew Ayers is in it too. I think TCM showed it way back but I still have my copy from AMC days and that was a terrible print...

Re: Noir Alley
Had Follow Me Quietly been shown before? Some of it seemed awfully familiar. Nicely directed. Dorothy Patrick is like a cross between Dorothy Malone and Rosemary Clooney. Jeff Corey did some scene stealing. Interesting intro by Eddie about the condition of RKO just before this picture was made. Yes...

Re: I Just Watched...
In times though of actually hating a film at the very moment it was the "it" film, there were the following: Don't Look Up/2021 (I actually used these GIFs of Elaine to voice how I felt about the film) Spenser/2021 to be fair, I don't think you were in the minority by not liking those two...

Re: I Just Watched...
I came across this article about David Manners. Very strange his star was removed. Has that ever happened before? I know some have been removed over the years at the Chinese, but they have limited space, while the Walk of Fame does not. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/hollywood-star-removed-when-gay...

Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted
If you are a Thelma Ritter fan, The Model and the Marriage Broker is a must. I think it was shown on TCM once before. Thelma has the leading role, although Jeanne Crain has top billing. Yes, I plan to watch it for Thelma! Hope I don't forget. I seem to remember it being on before but for some reaso...

Re: I Just Watched...
David Manners was an interesting person. He left Hollywood in the 30s and never looked back. He became an author in his later years and lived to be 97!
I disagree about The Mummy. I like it a lot.

Nothing to write home about. Most, if not all, have been shown before. Not sure about Model and the Marriage Broker. I haven't seen that one. Thanks for posting.

Re: !
Yeah, I like that show. I looked it up today and Paula has been on 27 seasons. Time to go! Wow. I knew she had been on a long time but I never thought it was that long. Yeah it might be time to bow out gracefully and give someone else a chance. In years, its less than that as the show is on several...

I also have THIS COMPULSION where, even though I own them all on DVD- whenever any of the UNIVERSAL MONSTER FILMS become available on any format I have access to- I WILL WATCH. I dunno WHY but DRACULA (31), FRANKENSTEIN (31), THE WOLF MAN, THE INVISIBLE MAN and THE MUMMY (1933) are all on youtube (...

LOL. Especially in the bay area. I don't remember if Aggie even admitted to killing the guy. She just kept yelling you have no proof etc. That had to be a huge window wide open for her to tumble out of too! PAULA NEWS! Her show wasn't on last night! They are running In Pursuit again. Might be the b...

Re: !
Yeah, a plastic surgery bargain. Even factoring in inflation! Aggie probably waited till he turned around and bopped him on the head with his trumpet (or whatever it was) to stun him then shot him when he was down. Sounds like her style. No, no explanation was given how Agnes accomplished that. Esp...

Re: !
Yea, the supporting actors make the film. Note this was the best role for Clifton Young as the blackmailer. Warner signed him but he didn't get much work (he does have an uncredited role as a bum at the start of Treasures of the Sierra Madre). What a smarmy character! Also note worried actor is the...
