Re: October Schedule 2014

Ditto the good impressions of -30- . I enjoyed it far more than I was expecting, and I think perhaps it would be a cool idea to have a William Conrad day sometime, including Brainstorm , which he directed (thanks for the tip, ChiO!). I have no idea if he directed anything else besides Cannon episode...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Hahahahaha! red that was hilarious... Last time I saw it on the big screen, I had just read the book. It was the year before it was supposed to show on TV for the first time. I was 15 years old. I am so angry that my movie theater that usually shows the TCM films is being renovated right now! Big di...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I think perhaps you may have mistaken my opinion for CineMaven's, Moira, though I could be wrong. I'll let her speak for herself. However, I will say that Maven has always seemed shocked at my dislike, and has tried to convince me to delve into Douglas' work more thoughtfully so I might perhaps get ...

Re: Bad Movies You Love

Oh man, I would have LOVED to go out with those three actresses! You could probably have learned more about acting hanging out in a bar with those three than by taking all the acting lessons in the world.

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

So far, there hasn't been a Wellman movie, early or late, that I haven't liked. There's a mixture of grit and grand ideals in his work that speaks to me, especially when it plays out in small scale western or seamy underworld backgrounds. The occasional nobility of the lowest of the low. Wellman is ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Those are all great reasons to admire this movie, Joel, and it deals with themes I am strongly drawn to. I think you've brilliantly captured it here. I just can't get into the film. I've tried and I'll continue to try again for those same reasons you cite. I do believe the lack is in me, not in the ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

That made me to see True West more than LAtB! :) What a terrific scene!
