Re: Vote for Your Favorite Movie Quotes for the Banner

Time now, I guess, to start thinking of quotes for November.

To celebrate the anniversary of 11/11/11, may I suggest Vivien Leigh's first words in that little film usually identified only as GWTW:

"Fiddle-dee-dee. War, war, war."

Re: CANDIDS II

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Frankenstein. A very suitable time to celebrate it, too.

There weren't many such beautiful actresses who would ugly-up in those days as she so obviously did, as evidenced by these two candids vs. #3 in the banner.

Re: What Horror and Sc-Fi films have you seen lately?

Totally agree. Although it's a TV play, Twelve Angry Men is another great example of not opening up. Quick as he can, Sidney Lumet pushes you into that Jury Room and he keeps you there right to the very end, then that closing shot, as they're leaving the New York Courthouse, makes you feel as if you...

Re: What Horror and Sc-Fi films have you seen lately?

Sometimes I think it is better that some of these horror films didn't adhere too closely to the books As often as not, this is true of all genres. We're dealing with vastly different mediums. While unavoidably disappointing fans of the book, it's better to let the movie find its own direction. So t...

Re: The Lost City of DeMille

Considering how little regard they had for what they had created, I guess we're lucky at least the film preservationists are reclaiming what they can.

Maybe when he goes back to English, he'll have a Spanish accent?

Re: HOT OFF PRESS!

Apropos of nothing. From today’s paper (complete):

“A pet parrot that spoke with a British accent when it disappeared from its home in Torrence four years ago has been reunited with its owner – and the bird now speaks Spanish.”

The Master indeed. Thanks, Eric, for posting the poster. It's a beauty, and it includes my personal favorite of his work: the fighting skeletons in the lower left.

And age related, as well. I clearly remember watching Bob Hope's drunk scene in The Princess and the Pirate in 1944 at age nine and completely losing it. Not too long ago, I saw it again and couldn't even manage a smile. That made me feel sad - and old!

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Movie Quotes for the Banner

A fitting quote during this Banner might be: "To new worlds of Gods and Monsters!" Honoring both The Bride of Frankenstein and the movie version of Christopher Bram's magnificent Father of Frankenstein . But the creepiest quote of all has to be: "I am Dracula. I bid you welcome."

Judging by Jimmy's pose, I'd guess they're singing Inka Dinka Do!

Great photo. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner

Here's a strong vote for Moira's suggestion of character actor themes.

And, may I suggest a panel of in-character performers, taken from the films not publicity shots, might also be fun, since we could then guess at both the actor and the film.
