If it's "best" and not "favorite" you're asking for, I'd agree on Red River. However my favorite definitely is Angel and The Bad Man, followed by Hondo. I can watch those over and over.

After Liberty, I'd say Jack Palance in Shane and Strother Martin in Will Penny.

Oh! And Bruce Dern, in The Cowboys. What a dastard.

>>Elam also proved fishing with dynamite icreases your odds of getting lunch.<<

I never thought about it before, but you're right! I'm surprised it didn't catch on as a new past-time.

My favorite is Man of the West (big surprise), but of the Stewart collaborations I am most fond of The Far Country . Perhaps it's the teaming of Stewart and Brennan I find so endearing, or Corrinne Calvet's sweet and comical heroine---or John McIntyre's charming villain. It's the one I can watch ove...

Jack Elam is hilarious in Support Your Local Sheriff. It's one of his shining moments in films.

Doesn't Walter Brennan's character remind you of a send-up of his menacing Pa Clanton in My Darling Clementine?

Well this is already one of my favorite threads in these parts. I really appreciated your recounting that scene in My Darling Clementine , Moira, because it stirred me as well and continues to do so upon each viewing. Isn't it appropriate, that Ford and/or the screenwriter had Mowbray break do...

Anne---I think Drums Along the Mohawk is just about the best movie about that period in American history I've seen. Certainly the most entertaining. I just love my new dvd, though it cries out for commentary, especially from someone familiar with the details of daily living in that time, which Ford ...

Yep!

It goes almost without saying that this one is already pre-ordered! I haven't seen it in ages but remember it as being a fun movie, nothing serious, and that both Gary and Paulette are in fine form. I think it's superior to Northwest Mounted Police , which really ought to have been included a...

I understand that A Lady Takes A Chance is going to be re-issued on dvd, May 28th I think ---let's hope with a good print because I want to add it to my collection. Just a charming movie! And, Moira, it does remind me of Without Reservations as well as The Cowboy and The Lady . RE: No Time for Love ...

I'm here and I like it!

 Yippee! Seeing my poor little Counsellor-at-Law thread totally destroyed at TCM, it's such a pleasure to come here. I like this format and can't wait to set up my own Avatar. It's the little things.....

Cheers,

Miss G
