Re: EYEBROWS
Evening all, As a guy, and thereby somewhat detached from the whole makeup frenzy (except for the occasional tube of Clearasil as a young teenager) where do "Mary Kay" and "Avon" fall into the pantheon of women's cosmetics? I'm asking from a purely intellectual standpoint of cour...

Anne, Truth be told, the sinking of the Lusitania was what drew the US into WWI. The war had started on the European front more than a year earlier. The single event that's generally credited with "starting" the war was the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. (I hope I s...

Re: EYEBROWS
Hey there y'all... Boy it hurts to say that! I'm guessing that it was somewhere on the order of 25 years ago, but I had to have a sebaceous cyst removed from just above my left eyelid and just below the eyebrow. The surgeon said that it would be much easier to perform the procedure if he could simpl...

Re: HELP WITH A DILEMMA
Hi Birdy and Alison! Punkin is sort of a medium gray with black tiger stripes, and is a gorgeous little girl. She has a creamy underside and bright, greenish gold eyes. Except for the first night she was with us, I don't think I've ever heard her meow! She communicates with a number of sounds that e...

Hi Anne, It's good to hear from you. I hope you're doing well and feeling the same way. I'll try to answer your question as best I can. The Porsche marque is a publicly traded corporation but the Porsche family has a controlling interest in it. The family also has a controlling interest in Volkswage...

Re: HELP WITH A DILEMMA
Good morning Alison, I'll tell you what my brother in law once said to me. He said that even though I'm not a doctor, nobody knows my body as well as I do, and to not listen to what it's trying to tell me would be just plain foolish. I guess the perfect analogy would be that "You don't need a w...

I'll never cease being amazed at how many people aren't aware of the old Chinese adage that goes "Better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." I'm very happy that the vast majority of our membership pays heed to it.
Glad to be back,

Hi Alison,
Isn't it a shame that we can't ask Joan Crawford why she did it? It may have something to do with face lifts and other plastic surgical procedures. If they hadn't shaved them off, they would have wound up in the middle of their foreheads!
As always, Hollis

Hi Alison, I haven't been active here for the last couple of weeks, but it sure is good to see that you're in much better spirits than you were the last time I tread these hallowed halls. If I recall correctly, after Germany declared war on the US and the US reciprocated, all transfers of assets to ...

Bryce, Time for a history lesson. The proximate cause of the Second World War was the amount of reparations demanded by the Allied Nations (France in particular.) Hitler knew that the best way to rescue his country from the shackles of the Great Depression was to put everyone to work. Hence, the Aut...

Let my humble voice be added to the mix. Bryce, this is in fact, an "off topic" queue. It is meant for the discussion of non film related subjects. It is dwarfed by the number of film related threads. If you want to talk about nothing but film and film related issues, may I suggest TCM.com...

Re: I hereby organize the first SSO World Congress.
Whoa there Chris, I may be verbose (at times) but I'm completely innocent in this case. I believe that if you look back, you'll find Bryce and ChiO swapping polysyllabic banter with each other. Any more than two syllables and I'm usually lost. I think that it's time for The Andy Griffith Show to com...

Hi Nancy, And thanks for bringing Kate Smith and her signature song back to us. It was one of the most popular songs during WWII. It was so inspiring that the Philadelphia Flyers adopted not only her song, but her as well. She blessed the Spectrum in South Philadelphia more than a few times and for ...

Re: The whiny thread
Down here in Alabama, the state bird is the "Love Bug" which derives it's name from their uncanny ability to become part of your windshield while coupled together ! You never see them flying solo ! Come to think of it, is there a better way to die ? If there is, I haven't thought of it yet...
