It's interesting to see Leo Gordon in Joel McCrea 's TALL STRANGER . Leo plays a sympathetic character for maybe the only time in his career? And he did it so well. Such a nice surprise.

Imagine the thrill of seeing Elmer Bernstein himself conduct a concert orchestra playing the Katie Elder theme. Well I did! Unforgettable!

Another favorite western, but then I like Robert Ryan in most things.
Definitely a touch of HIGH NOON as Ryan forever regrets leaving unfinished business.
By the end, you can see he is content with himself.
Maybe sentimental but I do like the final scene with Hunter and the town drunk.

DESPERATE is a good little thriller and a starring role for Steve Brodie who played a lot of supporting roles including one of my favorites, ARMORED CAR ROBBERY.
Amazing that Raymond Burr, always the menacing heavy, managed to turn into a leading man in the one and only PERRY MASON.

I love Ella Raines in IMPACT. And a a good part for Brian Donlevy as a loving husband deceived by his wife, Helen Walker.

Love Randolph Scott westerns and so enjoyed reading all the comments. What I find interesting about DECISION AT SUNDOWN is simply that Randolph is totally different from his usual characters. This is a conflicted character and the ending doesn't leave you thinking anything is going to get any better...

Lovely tributes to Joel. Like Randolph Scott, he started doing only westerns in the late 40s and onwards, which is maybe a shame. As has been said, he had such an easy, relaxed style .
