Re: Todd Slaughter

"Murder in the Red Barn" began with the actors being introduced to the audience just as you described. You're right. I had forgotten about that. There's also a movie called The Villain Still Persued Her that's a spoof of Victorian melodramas. If I recall right, it begins with a similar in...

Tod Slaughter's real name was Norman Carter Slaughter, and he was born on 19 March, 1885, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. He joined a theater company at age 16, and worked his way from assistant stage manager to actor. He eventually wound up managing his own company. He became a member of th...

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

I grew up watching the Blondie movies, too. I chose Arthur Lake for my avatar because Dagwood is one of my favorite characters, plus, there are a few things about myself that remind me of him, such as my taste in sandwiches. Fortunately, I don't have his tendency of running into mailmen.

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

Yes. I'm a fan of Blondie, Torchy Blane, The Thin Man, Ma and Pa Kettle, and quite a few other movie series.

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

Is that Arthur Lake in your avatar? (I hope I get this one right)

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

The one on the right is Patricia Ellis, and on the left is her mother, Mrs. Alexander Leftwich. The original caption for the photo reads: "A Trio of Leopard Corsages: Mrs. Alexander Leftwich, Glenda Farrell, Patricia Ellis (Daughter of Mrs. Leftwich) pose with three pets on the Warner 'lot.' Ma...

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

I haven't seen those last two before. I agree about the one with the well. It's a very nice one. Here are a few more I'm particularly fond of: http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r665/hbenthow/Glenda%20Farrell%20Resized/10646913-1_zps5b900df3.jpg http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r665/hbenthow/Gle...

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

She is terrific in I Love Trouble . Marco and I were fortunate to see this nifty little thriller at one of Dewey's film festivals last year and we really enjoyed it! As Hazel Bixby, wisecracking and long-suffering secretary (aren't all movie secretaries long suffering?) to Franchot Tone's private d...

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

Do you have a favorite role played by Farrell other than the Torchy Blane series? Other than Torchy Blane, which is my very favorite, my second-favorite is Florence Dempsey in Mystery of the Wax Museum . It was in Mystery of the Wax Museum that I first saw Glenda Farrell, and it was her performance...

Re: GLENDA FARRELL

I apologize in advance for the length of this post. I got a little carried away, and didn't quite realize how long it was turning out to be as I was writing it. I'm sorry if it's too long, but I feel that unlike many of the more famous classic stars, the facts of whose lives are more well-known, Gle...
