You mean where is that certain redhead? I thought I might get in trouble if I mentioned her and that tall drink of water, John Wayne in McLintock! (and TQM) before you did!

It just occurred to me, you meant only romantic duos in comedies, right Ken? Sorry! In that case, Powell and Loy win, along with Powell and Lombard and Montgomery and O'Sullivan.

I take it you jest, Mr. Ken. (Eyes-Wide-Open!) I nominate: Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman Humphrey Bogart and.... Ingrid Bergman Yul Brynner and.... Ingrid Bergman This is getting redundant! And oddly, Ingrid is not my favorite actress! I really like her, but sh...

My Man Godfey gets my vote every time! Like PKtrekgirl, my love for this film knows no bounds and would join me on that proverbial desert island.

My Man Godfrey . Or would people separate that into the "screwball" category? I include it only because I think William Powell's character is a romantic dreamy guy! I can easily see why both Carole Lombard (in real life as well as reel life) and Jean Dixon fell for him. If I can't have Go...

I love The Ghostbreakers, too, but I also think The Lemon Drop Kid is just hilarious. I wish it would get shown, because it's one of his best (and features him introducing the holiday standard "Silver Bells"). Rounding out the top three, is The Pale Face.

Thanks for the welcome, which I pass on to all who come after. And I forgot to say earlier that I think you all, including, Jon & Pktrekgirl have done a smashing job here. I really like the "retro" look of the place. And "hi" Bobhopefan1940! Glad to see you here, too! Y...

I wonder too, considering a lot of film buffs love the look of it (so do I). I'm surprised it didn't make it into the John Ford Film Collection. Do you know if they are planning a Volume II? They should.

If it's "best" and not "favorite" you're asking for, I'd agree on Red River. However my favorite definitely is Angel and The Bad Man, followed by Hondo. I can watch those over and over.

After Liberty, I'd say Jack Palance in Shane and Strother Martin in Will Penny.

Oh! And Bruce Dern, in The Cowboys. What a dastard.

I never thought about it before, but you're right! I'm surprised it didn't catch on as a new past-time.

My favorite is Man of the West (big surprise), but of the Stewart collaborations I am most fond of The Far Country . Perhaps it's the teaming of Stewart and Brennan I find so endearing, or Corrinne Calvet's sweet and comical heroine---or John McIntyre's charming villain. It's the one I can watch ove...

Jack Elam is hilarious in Support Your Local Sheriff. It's one of his shining moments in films.

Doesn't Walter Brennan's character remind you of a send-up of his menacing Pa Clanton in My Darling Clementine?

Well this is already one of my favorite threads in these parts. I really appreciated your recounting that scene in My Darling Clementine , Moira, because it stirred me as well and continues to do so upon each viewing. Isn't it appropriate, that Ford and/or the screenwriter had Mowbray break do...
