Re: What Your Movie Preferences Reveal About You

Hi April, how are you Did the test and while I agree with what it said I liked, I wasn't to keen on the movies they picked with the exception of Meet The Parents and When Harry Met Sally, which said I would be 90% interested in. Even then of that genre I'd prefer films like The Kid, Mr.Smith Goes To...

The World Of Tennis mourns Scot's player

Today the world of Tennis mourns the death of Scottish player Elena Baltacha, who died at age 30 of liver cancer. Though maybe not known globally tributes have come in from Andy Murray, Martina Navratilova and Billie Jean King. One of the sad things about Eleana, or Bally as she was known, as player...

Re: The Bletchley Circle; Rachael Sterling a 50s Emma Peel

The BBC seems less likely these days to norture shows along. An example is Only Fools And Horses, which got of to a slow start viewing wise bit grew into one of the UKs greatest ever sit-coms. But now they won't take any risks

Re: Laramie continues to impress me

I discovered recently that Robert Fuller was 2nd choice to play Joe Cartwright in Bonanza behind Michael Landon. Personally though Fuller wasn't much older tha Landon, I think he'd be to mature to play the young little Joe. Though to be fair to Michael Landon I thought in the latter Bonanza's Joe tu...

Laramie continues to impress me

I get the impression that the tv western Laramie, historically isn't as highly thought of as other great shows like Wagon Train, Bonanza and The High Chapperal. However, I've been watching more episodes, particulary seasons 1 and 2 and continue to be impressed by the quality of the series. It stars ...

Happy Valley, a new UK cop show with a difference

Spoiler I've just watched the first episode Of The Happy Valley, a cop thriller set in a rural part of Yorkshire. It stars the brilliant Sarah Lanashire as a tough, but stressed out uniformed Sargeant in charge of policing her local community. Though Ms. Lancashire isn't known in America, at least y...

Mickey Rooney RIP

It's an end of a era, Mickey Rooney has died at age 93. I have a theory about Mickey and his time at MGM. He was known for his classic musicals with Judy Garland like Babes In Arms, Babes On Broadway and Girl Grazy but while she was put into one musical after another with endless rehearsals (The Clo...
