Re: Sad news re: Moira Finnie

Lynn, After you sent me a note I knew I had to come here. Thankfully, you were here and wrote a moving tribute to her. Moira was very helpful to me. After Kyle stepped down as moderator and put me up for replacement she was always very helpful, patient and supportive. I hope this place became everyt...

Re: It is my considered opinion . . .

I quite agree you kind of have to take it as new or you do compare. Another example is Audie Murphy's "Destry." Murphy is pleasant enough on his own and handles that genial character that was Jimmy Stewart in the original but best not to make comparisons between the two. The rest of the su...

Re: Dodsworth

This is a wonderful film. Huston is great. He is almost terminally good natured. His wife is practically having an affair under his nose on the ship yet he is unfazed by it , almost. He is letting her have some fun but ultimately pointing out that he thinks she is a little silly. And doesn't Niven g...

Re: Stars in My Crown, Easter Morning

Earlier in a post from 2013 I mentioned I needed to have The Bride watch this film. Somehow it took me until two days ago to do it. Shame on me. She loved it. She is sometimes hard to read when we watch something but yesterday asked if we could watch it again. It hit all the right spots. I continues...

Re: What are you listening to?

And then came Spotify and Amazon Music and a host of others and with it the chance to hear new things without going broke. When the pandemic broke and I thought working from home was a short term thing I thought I would listen to all 104 Haydn symphonies. The longer this mess went on the less I list...

Re: Sue Sue's TCM Film Festival Tidbit Travel Blog

All is well. It was mostly a joke when I proposed so many years ago. It was a hopeful way to participate. Still hope so but wouldn’t want it under these circumstances. The fun would have been seeing our friends there. Given the state of things I am sure it will be the only option. Thanks for sharing...

Re: Have Gun Will Travel or Wanted: Dead or Alive

Six years later and both shows still going strong on smaller cable channels. Still prefer "Have Gun" but "Wanted" is still pretty good as McQueen does well as the quiet hero.

Yeah, we have the CDs and the albums, for those of us of a certain age. I do use Spotify a lot. (Glad to see you stopped by.)

Re: Storm Clouds in our Future?

THe storm clouds for TCM cover Verizon and Comcast. Earlier this year (and much earlier in other places) Comcast moved TCM to a Sports/Entertainment package. For another $10 a month you can enjoy what used to be part of a differnet package. THeir excuse is not enough people watch it often enough to ...

Re: BBC Suggestions

A very good series I thought others might enjoy is a British production currently on Amazon Prime. It is called "Unforgotten." It stars the wonderful Nicola Walker as the head of a cold case unit in a mid country police department. The three seasons are comprised of a single case each seas...

Re: Sue Sue's TCM Film Festival Tidbit Travel Blog

Somewhere buried in here is where I wanted to do an east coast version at my parents’ house. I thought it would be great fun to have Wendy and April and Teresa and others come down and watch as many of the same films as we could all the while snacking and having meals. I knew it wouldn’t happen but ...

Re: CENTENNIAL

A couple of months ago I stumbled on a Richard Chamberlain interview on The Academy of American Television. They talked for a bit about Centennial and he fond memories of it but couldn’t remember Robert Conrad’s name. It is funny to think even after what must have been 25 years you would forget some...

Re: Happy Anniversary, SSO!

It couldn’t have been a previous version. Jeff worked very hard on getting this updated. We faced two choices: find a way to make the update work or find a way to archive it so that we wouldn’t lose the whole thing. Luckily it finally worked. Some of these things may be lost but we can still post. I...
