Terror On A Train (aka Time Bomb) 1953

I ended up degrading this film severely and, unbelievably, I think it's Glenn Ford's fault! He and his wife, Anne Vernon, and the film's director (Ted Tetzlaff) who let their performances set such an unrealistic tone in the middle of so many other realistic moments. TERROR has so many elements that ...

He was in just about every good TV show at one time or another. What a face and a great and memorable voice, too.

I keep forgetting about Fess Parker's performance. And who's the hilarious fellow? "Make me a general!" (Is that Olin Howland as "Jensen"?) The film's great fearful moments get tossed around by these two funny 'interview' moments, almost like giving us comic relief so we can laug...

I'm not sure I have unfavorite "classic" actors - the ones from the '30s and '40s, at least. But if we move into the '50s, it's Kirk Douglas, for me. DETECTIVE STORY is one of "his" films that I will rewatch intentionally, and BAD & BEAUTIFUL has enough cast members to dilute...

Aldo Ray is a name that's as forgettable to me as most of his films. When I think of WE'RE NO ANGELS, I hardly ever bother trying to recall his name. And in this film, my poor manners seems even worse because he turns in a fine performance. I suspect "It's the material!" would be a frequen...

The question is, "Would I watch variety shows today?" I suspect not. They'd fill them with so-called "music" of today that I won't watch on channels supposedly dedicated to that kind of garbage. I don't watch those, so would I watch a modern variety show? I don't even watch SAT N...

This is one of those films that I hated seeing pigeon-holed because of ethnicity of filmmakers or characters, or holidays. I hope TCM will consider showing again without regard to race, creed or religious timings.

I've been digging a bit and obviously was confused about it's Region-2 release and current OOP status. Apparently, it's never been released on DVD, but this gorgeous ultra-widescreen release that TCM showed us hopefully indicates that will soon be released.

I grew up with a lot of '50s and '60s variety shows and didn't mind their demise at the time. Of course, I'm kicking myself now, but I do remember some of the weaknesses (the canned music with perhaps a real or perhaps a lip-sync'ing singer as opposed to live performances). I always enjoyed the skit...

Despite my hesitancy in reading Dewey's opening comments (fearing a hype job that would build up my expectations), his enthusiasm for the film struck me as that - enthusiasm - and not hype. And even then, this film kept encouraging higher and higher expectations. Each scene's construction of the fol...

This is one of those films that remind me how irrational and emotional I can be, completely ignoring so many smaller ludicrous events once I've started enjoying the Really Big Ludicrous Event! For example, seeing an FBI agent and a New Mexico highway patrolman battling the monsters with US Army gear...

Thanks for the answers to all of my and these other questions. The McGRAW Book is an excellent 'read', by the way, and I'll be looking for more of your work.
