Re: Has anyone purchased anything from ShoutFactory?

I dealt with an online retailer that insisted on having my phone number once. They actually called me to verify the last 4 numbers of my credit card. I blindly gave it out without thinking (really stupid). Fortunately, it was actually legit, and nothing ever happened. But I will never do that again,...

Wow if I didn't have kids I'd love a tiny place like John Garfield is sitting in there. Minimal upkeep for the win! :)

Re: The Lost City of DeMille

So much Hollywood history was destroyed with so little thought. I remember reading they burned the original King Kong set to create effects for Gone With the Wind. Of course, they had no way of knowing how important the works would be perceived over time. They were working in what they thought was e...

Re: Storm Clouds in our Future?

Wow, I hope it doesn't turn into a reality TV cesspool like so many other once terrific cable networks have done. It wouldn't fit with the name of the channel, but neither do AMC or MTV or Discovery Channel anymore. Nothing surprises me these days. Even having commercials interrupt the film would be...

I knew about the hair parting on the wrong side thing, but I thought that happened before he got to be a name star.

I didn't change any fonts on the site in performing this upgrade, so I don't think it is the change that is causing your small fonts. They look the same to me on several computers. I imagine the suggestions Moira gave you will help. If not, you will see a capital letter "A" in the upper ri...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

After seeing Cary Grant in a couple of his earliest films, including Hot Saturday , I have a question for those of you with sharper eyes and more knowledge of the era: Cary doesn't quite look like his later image, and it's not just a question of his learning more about film acting. Did he have a no...

Re: RITA HAYWORTH - The Love Goddess

Love these pics. I'm not sure why you have decided to limit your postings, but it's saddening. I enjoy the pictures of various eras of Rita Hayworth/old Hollywood that you put up. It's just that I really have nothing to add to it. "Yes, fine pictures" every few pages would get pretty tires...

Re: The Lone Ranger

The biggest flaw in that film is that the creators were unwilling to take the source material seriously and give it the respect it deserved. The Ranger is played for laughs; a buffoon. If they had shown any interest in not poking fun at the character, and actually tried to be faithful, I have no dou...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Not a silent, but I watched a pre-code film called The Naughty Flirt the other night starring Alice White as the titular flirt and a young Myrna Loy in a small role as the sister of a conniving gold digger (and no small gold digger herself). It's a fairly typical 30s farce, with rich people walking ...

Re: 2014 tv shows new and continuing

No, I keep meaning to look that up because of the opening credits of the show mentioning a miniseries. I have one episode to go, and then I have to wait until next year, so maybe I will give that a look. I usually get turned off of political dramas, but Kevin Spacey is just so delightfully nasty.

Re: 2014 tv shows new and continuing

I am looking forward to the the return of Once Upon a Time this weekend to ABC, and The Flash, on CW. As a comic fan, what I've seen of the latter so far pushes all the right buttons for me. Not dark and cynical like that Superman movie was. Just looks fun! (Warner Bros: Not every character is Batma...
