Re: Screwballs!

I'd have to list the Preston Sturges films THE LADY EVE and PALM BEACH STORY at the top, followed closely by Hawks' BRINGING UP BABY and Mitchell Leisen's MIDNIGHT starring the wonderful Claudette Colbert. Another "Midnight" fan. Great. Now if somebody will show it so I can get a decent c...

Thanks Ben. I've been trying to remember Dr. Loveless' real name ever since "cinemalover" strated talking about WWW a few weeks ago. He was one of those great bad guys who seem all the more bad because he was so well educated and are cultured. Do you think they relied too much on him (i.e....

Walter Brennan : An actor of unbelievable range and skill, IMO not given all the accolades he deserved (despite all those Oscars) because of the types of roles he played. I can't think of any others who could have done it better than he. Judith: I watched "Come and Get It" last night with...

Anne
Different agencies. The Post Office isn' really part of the federal government.

Spencer Tracy: I always thought he looked like the wisest man ever on screen. Charming and intimidating. John Wayne: Rugged, strong, business-like, charming and at times funny. Jimmy Stewart: Exceedingly likeable. Tough guy in his westerns. Passionate. Henry Fonda: Determined, serious and humble. Ja...

John:

Did you see where BBC America will no longer show Benny Hill as they say it no longer reflects current English society (or something like that.) Next thing they won't be showing "As Time Goes By" because Geoffrey Palmer is too laid back.

Jean Arthur: I think "You Can't Take It With You" was my first. She's lovely, funny and a flirt. And I like her voice. Claudette Colbert: Always a lady. She can be funny or wonderfully serious. And she had the same hairstyle for 25 years. Katharine Hepburn: see Judith's remarks. Irene Dunn...

Re: "I don't like the way Teddy Roosevelt is looking at

I'm curious to know more about his one man show, "An Evening With Cary Grant," that he was doing in Davenport, Iowa when he died... Ben: They do show clips from it in his documentary and is very similar to Gregory Peck's show if you've seen his documentary. I think they are both in May or...

Isn't an autobiography by its nature self centered? I have a copy and enjoyed it. Herlife wasn't always pleasant. I was surprised also to find Charles Laughton played so a large part in her career. Good reading.

I've read Niven's book "Bring On The Empty Horses" which is a Curtiz quote. With "The Moon's A Balloon" you will have a fine time reading both of these fine books. You'd probably have to check a used book store.

Grant grew into his later years maybe better than any other actor. By the time he was in his 50's he was doing some of his best work even if it was primarily with Hitchcock. Throw out "The Pride and The Passion" (please) and he was mainly playing Cary Grant and lots of it was fluff, even i...

I don't think anyone mentioned (here) "The Private Lives of A Bengal Lancer." Really good action picture.

Tall, good looking and talent. No wonder you ladies like him.

Just so anyone knows you do have the ability to delete your onw posts. It's in the right hand top corner of your post next to the edit there is an "X." Click on that and you can delete your post. (I've done it so I know it works.)

Lynn: Keep an eye out for a little feature on Monumnet Valley. I caught it at the end of "Escape From Ft. Bravo." It looks like it was a kind of a "Tales From My Town" where they gave a little history on how Ford ended up using Monumenet Valley. They talk to some people that live...
