Re: CANDIDS II

Hello PT, Did Agnes Moorehead ever make a movie with Judith Anderson? I never heard her mention Miss Anderson. Mary Astor and I once viewed "Rebecca" on TV in Vancouver; and MA pronounced Anderson as 'rather chilly or chilling' - I can't remember the exact word!! Elizabeth Taylor liked her...

Hi,

Poor Zsa Zsa - all her relatives and friends are dead; except the shit-head husband (can you spell LEECH).

As for Mamie - the boobs look better than the face; maybe she should pump some air into that!!

Re: The Royals!

Hi,

February 6, 1952:

Britain's King George VI dies suddenly at his Sandringham home. He was 56.
His elder daughter, Princess Elizabeth, automatically becomes Queen Elizabeth II.
Which means that today, February 6, 2016, she has been the monarch for 64 years.

Re: CANDIDS II

Hi, I believe Mary Carlisle is 102 today. Two years ago, she sat as a guest two booths away at Musso & Franks in Hollywood from Lynn, Christy, Alexa, David, Sam, Glenn, Paula and me. She looked very well and quite spry. We were all there for the TCM Film Festival and in high spirits among great ...

Re: CANDIDS II

Hi Joe, There's that veil again!!!!! Isn't that Anna Q. Nilsson with her? Not sure..... I understand that they were good friends. Don't know if Theda was asked to play 'Norma Desmond'; but Mae Murray, Mary Pickford, Pola Negri and Mae West all were. They all turned it down, as we all know. But, when...

Re: CANDIDS II

Hi Joe, Thank you for posting a picture of Theda Bara - rare indeed..... She looks like she has her clutches into Tony Curtis!! Although I never knew her, I have seen her (across a crowded room - restaurant) a couple of times and she always seemed to have that veil on.... She was, from all accounts,...

Re: CANDIDS II

Also Joe,

Thank you for remembering Marion Davies and Pola Negri on their birthday - the same day!
These are two of my favourite (old!) ladies.....

In fact, I met them on the same day in 1946 at Marion's beach house in Santa Monica and knew them very well till the end of their time(s)....

Re: CANDIDS II

Dear Joe, If I remember correctly, Bela, Sterling and Paulette were doing a skit on a local television show in the 50's. Also - I think - Helen Hayes was with them. Helen & Paulette were very good friends. And, Paulette would have known Sterling through Burgess Meredith, a good friend of Sterlin...

Re: RITA HAYWORTH - The Love Goddess

Erik,

Thank you!!!

As you know, I wish we had stars now-a-days who were classy and knew how to move; Miss Hayworth had those in spades.

Re: RITA HAYWORTH - The Love Goddess

Hi Erik, I hope you were able to view "Pal Joey" last night.... "Zip" near the beginning proved she could still move flowingly and graciously and sensuously... Of course, jean Louis dressed her as a star should be dressed; and I liked the mauve evening gowns he provided for Kim N...

Hi Lynn, Christy and Everyone, Although I was unable to secure a Spotlight Pass, I am on a Wait List... I have however, got a Classic Pass, as advised by you both and can upgrade to Spotlight, if available. Also, I'm reserved at the Roosevelt several months ago - so see everyone at The Festival - wi...

Re: Sue Sue's TCM Film Festival Tidbit Travel Blog

Hi,

One couldn't order Spotlight passes on-line and the telephone was disconnected yesterday; so I wasn't able to get any pass.
I now have a special agent trying to obtain one for me, but haven't heard yet.
So, I'm up-in-the-air now and waiting.......
