This is a movie that is totally lost on kids. None of the sub-plots would appeal to kids even today. IN fact this movie would most likely come and go with little or no attention given it at all today. Did you notice the brain-numbing effect that television had on his kids? WoW. In the Neil Postman ...

Re: Best ( Forgotten ) Comedy Teams

How about Patsy Kelly & Thelma Todd ? Those were Hal Roach/Gus Meins shorts and the first couple made were Thelma with Zasu Pitts. I think those are funny and they were definately a compatible team. I've always gotten a kick of Patsy Kelly's loud-mouth wise-cracks whatever the role. But t...

I'm not a big fan of the Stooges myself. That particular brand of obnoxious slapstick never appealed to me, even as a reckless kid. The Marx Brothers are somewhat of an enigma to me right now. I sorta find them too schticky, predictable and overplay their routines somewhat. I've only seen four of th...

I have to find *something* good about them. Or failing that, at least interesting or marginally redeeming about them....like maybe they learn a lesson by the end of the film...or even get their just deserts. Or even that we come to understand WHY they are the way they are, even if they are disagree...

Why did you guys stop playing ? I just the whole thread ... Fun game ... May I ? Do you know me ? I was born in Florida. I had a tonsillectomy when I was young which I feared would ruin my chances of becoming a great singer. But I redirected my focus from opera to popular contralto and forged on. Ru...

I REALLY disliked Private Lives . I saw absolutely NOTHING likable about any of the four main characters, and the constant bickering that took up about 95% of the movie got tedious - especially when it was interspersed with physical violence. By the end of this film, I couldn't have possibly cared ...

Compelling, expressionistic and fantastic describe "Svengali" (Vitaphone 1931), perhaps the best film adaptation of G.L. du Maurier's 1896 novel, "Trilby" ... John Barrymore is Maestro Svengali, professeur de chant, pianiste virtuose, who lives among the artisans in Parisian roof...

The reviews posted at IMDb are a fascinating read. Many loved it giving it maximum accolades with nine and ten stars and others simply hated it assigning just one star and calling it the most boring film they'd ever seen ... How interesting ... I too first saw this movie as a youngster on television...

Man In The Gray Flannel Suit (1956)

"The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit" (20th Century Fox 1956) is an all too real domestic melodrama about the day-to-day struggles of the modern madison avenue nine-to-fiver, trying to provide for his family as honestly as he can without totally losing his composure. Adapted from a novel by S...
