Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

This ‘either / or’ situation of a woman choosing to stay home or go out into the workforce ranges from the serious to the comedic in classic films. Mildred Pierce has no choice but to hold down a job and the homefront when her husband leaves her. ( ...Mildred has a whole ‘nother set of problems name...

People have been very quick to make the connections between Hitch and his films or even Howard Hawks, but it's rather a...

PAUL NEWMAN

 I'm shocked! SHOCKED to find there is no thread devoted to PAUL NEWMAN. TCM makes Paul Newman one of its Summer Under the Stars. http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt270/CineMaven/CINEMAVEN%20MALE%20ACTORS/0280cf5f-de35-48b9-b4fb-83ea17c74f8e_zps06ffa281.jpg 6:00 AM - THE RACK (1956)...

Great Red. Lets just not get rescued before we finish watching all the DVDs. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Call me shameless. But I guess I’ll jump at any opportunity to bring up FRANCES GIFFORD. http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt270/CineMaven/CINEMAVEN%20FEMALE%20ACTRESSES/98d3f714-eb72-4d...

Re: Your favorite character actors

Harry Davenport is one of my favorites. From his little role as the judge in "You Can't Take It With You" to Jean Arthur's father in "Too Many Husbands" and so many other roles I thought he was always thoughtful and kind and somebody you'd want in the family. Don't know a thing ...

Re: Your favorite character actors

CineMaven,I love Samuel S. Hinds' screen persona. He looks as if he will be utterly kind and fair - about everybody and everything. One of those wonderful band of skilled character actors we musnt take for granted. I hear ya Vienna. I can't tell you when he appeared in my movie-consciousness, but i...

Re: CARY GRANT

Anyone else watch "Hot Saturday" last night? I did. I thought the movie was okay. A little creaky, but I watched it for Cary Grant. My gosh, was he dressed to KILL in this movie or what? He had such an easy way of delivering his lines and being in his own skin. I envy those early thirties...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Thank you Red. Now remember...castaways can't live by DVDs alone. We're going to need food, shelter and matches. Oh...and lotsa lotsa batteries: http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt270/CineMaven/CINEMAVEN%20MALE%20ACTORS/6b2f88f0-4ce7-4559-a94e-876157fbb959_zpseed6fdcf.jpg http://i618.photobucket....
