It Should've Been a Movie!!

Post by klondike »

Hey, did ya just catch that Crime Doesn't Pay short that TCM just ran? :D
It starred(?) Barry Nelson, and it was a 14kt HOOT!
Man, it had everything, just concentrated to cinema boullion density.
Loved the cops firing Thompsons out their prowler windows while speeding onto the scene - no Miranda issues there!
Loved the cafe menu boards - sure, coded messages to 5th columnists, but hey, ya can't knock brisket @ .40 a plate! And holy-old-mackinaw, ya had to see Nelson's hat - it was a Super Fedora!
Pardon me while I grab a hot cup o' joe & a French dip . .

Are you talking about the Oscar-nominated short, Don't Talk (1942), Klon? The Crime Doesn't Pay short that features a lot of ignoramuses flapping their gums about the war--allowing the fifth columnists around to get info for the Axis powers and depress morale further, is available as an extra on the DVD of Random Harvest (1942).

This little movie may have been Barry Nelson's best film role--next to his last feature film appearance in The Shining (1980).
