Cavalcade - Comments from across the pond?

So, Stuart, CCFan and others:

Did any of you see this one before? Is it well known in England? Of course the entire cast was unknown to me except for Bonita Granville, and Una O'Connor, but just listening to our language spoken the way it should be spoken is a treat for me. I caught the last half hour or so the last time it was on and was happy to get all of it today. I set it to record at about 7:00 p.m. last night.

Naturally I knew all of the events that were shown, except the one at the fancy dress ball. I don't know if it's my hearing that's starting to go, or if the soundtrack got messed up but the whole scene was garbled for me. Were they discussing some world event? Imagine how much more they would have had to work with if they had waited another 8 years to begin production.
