Here's a job for TCM staff

It dawned on me that if someone could collect copies of the Academy Awards shows as far back as they could, and form a documentary of them, it might make for a nice 90th anniversary 2 or 3 night showing. Revisiting Katherine Hepburn accepting all of her awards, Sally Field and her "You like me" speech, as well as Liz Taylor putting on the brave front after her surgery, would all be a trip to see again, at least to me. I know there are countless others that have never been seen, David Niven with the streaker is another one. Many of our members here have probably never seen some of the weird moments with so many flubs and mistakes during the first 5 or 6 years that the show was televised.

Does anyone have any ideas on the subject?

Anne,

Last year, TCM produced a documentary in partnership with the Academy called And the Oscar Goes To which was a look back at the history of the awards over the years.

TCM ran it a couple of weeks ago and it may be available via On Demand!

Dear Anne,

What a great idea! I'm all for it, fully....

I know there was the "Oscar Goes To" film, but a more 'in depth' one is called for, with all the major category nominees featured for each year.
We so forget who was who in the runnings and it's nice to recall old faces always....

Larry:

Thank you so much. You explained it way better than I could or did. I did see that "The Oscar Goe to", but it wasn't complete to me.
