I've updated some of my photos from the Harry Ransom Center exhibit in Austin from September 9, 2014, to January 4, 2015, in honor of Vivien Leigh's Summer Under The Stars Celebration today. TCM is also airing "The Making of Gone With The Wind" tonight before it's screening of Gone With The Wind.

The Best Movie MGM/Warner Brothers ever did.
As a side, the role Southern women played in the War Between the States is immeasurable.
Margaret Mitchell died from injuries sustained after being struck by a cab while crossing Peachtree Street 1949.
The Max Steiner documentary covers Gone With the Wind nicely. You get to see the handwritten scores and notes Steiner made to his orchestrators. He was quite a character!
Daniel Selznick offers some additional insight on his father's drug usage and just how destructive it was. The Making of a Legend documentary kind of touched on it, but this was a first person account from someone who grew up in the situation. I ended up feeling very sad for David Selznick and the rest of his family, as well as Steiner in his later years.
Daniel Selznick absolutely adored Max Steiner and his stories about going to Steiner's house as a little boy and not being allowed to watch GWTW until he was 9 years old are wonderful.
I thought it was very well done and worth the watch, especially for fans of film scores. It is available on Watch TCM until January 5th, so I will probably re-watch it before then.
