The Best Actor call was quite difficult for me so I watched The Whale and The Banshees of Inisherin for a second time, back-to-back. Fraser is better in the first half of his film with a more subtle and nuanced performance but it is usually the ending of films that sways the vote with most people. Seeing the films back-to-back for a second time helped me to weigh things in their entirety. It was still a close call.
That said, the Feinberg for the 2022 Best Actor Award goes to ...

Image

1. BRENDAN FRASER (Charlie), The Whale
2. COLIN FARRELL (Padraic Suilleabhain), The Banshees of Inisherin
3. YEUNG WAI LUN (Henry Cheung), The Sparring Partner
4. HUGH JACKMAN (Peter), The Son
5. CHIRSTIAN BALE (Burt Berendsen), Amsterdam
6. BRENDAN GLEESON (Colm Doherty), The Banshees of Inisherin
7. EDDIE REDMAYNE (Nurse Charles ‘Charlie’ Cullen), The Good Nurse
8. PIERFRANCESCO FAVINO (Felice Lasco), Nostalgia
9. ETHAN HAWKE (Ray), Raymond and Ray
10. VIGGO MORTENSEN (Rick Stanton), Thirteen Lives

RunnerUps:

FARES FARES (Colonel Ibrahim), Boy From Heaven
BRAD PITT (Jack Conrad), Babylon

Of the films you mention in your posts, I still have not seen:
Close
The Whale
The Son
A Man Called Otto
Luckiest Girl Alive
The Sparring Partner*
Nostalgia*
Babylon
Sick of Myself*
Boys from Heaven
Holy Spider

The ones with a * beside them were not even on my radar until now.

I also enjoyed Amsterdam despite it being one of the most critically reviled movies of the year.

There seemed to be a lot of disappointments for me this year, movie wise. Several I had anticipated turned out to be duds (like Bardo), and even more so, there were films that garnered a lot of critical applause or good word-of-mouth, that I found lacking (like Everything Everywhere All at Once, RRR, and Barbarian).
Watching until the end.
