It's clearly incomplete, but at least we get the premiere of The Hit.

Another YAWN SOTM. Nothing against William Powell, but his films are shown umpteen times throughout the year..

Has Mary Astor ever been SOTM?

Many thanks to cmovieviewer for the sneak peek.
Looks a little more like TCM.
This title has my curiosity: Deaf Smith & Johnny Ears.
Back when I worked in radio, we had a box that contained the Top 40 songs on 45 RPM singles.
You played the one in front, then moved it to the back.
TCM could learn from that. Just play the movies without having chronic theme syndrome.
5 or maybe 6 Thin Man movies play in May, back to back.
James Dean was in 3 movies, right?
Watch them all, back to back, in April.
Mix the movies up by year or genre.
At the same radio station, all the 45s had colored dots to categorize them.
Then we had a flex clock to show when to play what.
Blue dot at the top of the hour after the news.
A big hit not current but less than 2 years old.
Why? "People don't know what they like, but like what they know."
I would love to see the Programming Challenges from the TCM forum return, with the idea somebody from TCM would pay attention, like it use to be.
A new and different way to categorize may not work for everyone, but you never know.

Oh, man. Without Underground this is horrible. Same stuff as always - only one movie to circle for the month (so, far - maybe a TBA or two will pay off).

Thanks. Interesting. i was so attentive to January 2014 when Joan Crawford was SOTM and watching her movies changed my mind completely about her. Too the Good. But I missed Mary. Drat!cmovieviewer wrote: ↑March 15th, 2023, 5:48 pmYes, Mary Astor was Star of the Month in March, 2014.

Saint Mary was never SOTM. But Mary Astor was back in 2014.

Spaghetti Westerns?
I looked it up and apparently they are from Italy.
I'd prefer Lasagna Westerns.
As for Deaf Smith and Johnny Ears, it includes, "a pretty whore named Susie (Pamela Tiffin) with a mole on her bottom."
Thanks for the link EP.
I have an episode of Matlock for just about everything.
"Matlock, The Nightmare."

Deaf Smith was a real person and there's a county in Texas named for him. He pronounced "deaf" as "deef", and it was pronounced this way in the film Giant, too, but most people nowadays pronounce it in the customary manner.
