Welcome back to SSOville, JohnM!

I recently saw the reportedly restored version of How the West Was Won on the Encore Western Channel. It does look much better than I remember it, though due to the rambling nature of the storylines, I found my attention wandering more than once. I do like the parts along the river best. This may be one film that ought to be seen in a properly equipped theater to be appreciated, don't you think?

I enjoy this film. I too saw the restoration on the Westerns channel and thought it looked great. The most obvious improvement was the reduction in the lines that would separate the screens. They are mostly gone.

I find the Civil War part the least compelling of the sections. The River section is good and the climax is exciting if a little improbable but I will likely add it to my collection.
