John Payne, Lizabeth Scott and Dan Duryea fans -- Allan Dwan fans too -- rejoice! VCI has announced a "restored" version of Silver Lode for May 25.

Yes, but the rejoicing here is for John Alton! Especially the French set -- John Alton was the cinematographer for each of those films -- and, with the HUGE exception of SILVER LODE and SLIGHTLY SCARLET, the only reason I would sit through those movies again.

ChiO -- you are so right about John Alton and I am embarrassed that I didn't include him in my first post. Thanks for noticing that!

What about Tennessee's Partner? Glenn Kenny thinks highly of it in his review of the Dwan set.
