THE ALAMO - any laser disc collectors here?

Post by Richard--W »

I just bought John Wayne's The Alamo (Paramount, 1960) on laser disc.
It's the only complete version, lasting 3 hours and 13 minutes.
It also has a documentary at the end.

After the laser disc was released, the negatives were improperly stored, and the film is ruined.
So there will never be a DVD or Blu-ray pressing of the complete version.
The current DVD is a re-release cut of 2 hours and 42 minutes.
Preservation Robert Harris has been unable to raise the money to restore the shorter version.

I will gift the laser disc to someone who can burn a back-up copy for me on DVD-R.
You must live in the USA, own a laser disc player, and know how to do a proper burn.
You are invited to PM me if you're serious.

Richard

I hope you find someone here who can help you Richard or at least point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, I don't live in the US. I wish you well.
