Wallander does seem very good, and your description of Branagh is right on! I missed the beginning of the las episode, though, and could not get caught back up as to what was going on. If I ever get to it, I'll check netflix.

Did anyone else enjoy Sherlock? I was all caught up in it and looking forward to weekly installments, and the season was only 3 episodes with more being made in the spring. It is set in modern London, which I didn't know if I would like; I am a fan of the Victorian mystery. However, it truly seems to capture the spirit of the books and characters, perhaps more accurately than any others I've seen. I especially liked the first episode showing how Holmes and Watson met. Watson (Rupert Graves) has just returned from Afghanistan and is in need of a room, he is introduced through a mutual acquaintance. Benedict Cumberbatch (is that a great name, or what?) plays Holmes and apparently has quite a female following. Holmes is his engaging sociopath self and Watson is a good match for him. (Watson was never supposed to be a tubby little old man but a stocky, ie strong, returning soldier.)

I'm sure PBS will show these again soon, but they can also be watched in entirety online for a few weeks. The interviews online with the actors and directors were very interesting, too.

Sherlock Series 1 is also available on Netflix with some of the added features you mentioned. I only saw a part of the last episode, so I'll try to catch up with the rest of the shows. I thought the byplay between Sherlock and Watson seemed to echo the stories too, despite the time change.

Birdy, Martin Freeman plays Watson. He is going to be "Bilbo" in the Hobbit movie made by P. Jackson, too. He was in Love, Actually as one of the nonchalant porn stars. Talk about a varied career! I just started the Sherlock series, and I really like it. I've seen 2 of the 3 episodes, really looking forward to the last one.

Oops, sorry. Rupert Graves is Lestrade.
At least I didn't confuse him with Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley!
