Treasure trove of old TV shows.

Post by markfp »

Although I've been going to this site for some time, it finally occurred to me that I should share it. The Internet Moving Image Archive http://www.archive.org/details/television has thousands of TV shows going back to the 1940's for free viewing online. You don't have to join or pay anything, just enjoy. Everything from classic series like "Dragnet"," Lights Out", and "Mama" to kinescopes of live series.

For example, I just watched a 1949 Studio One production "Of Human Bondage" starring Charlton Heston complete with commercials. The one for a 12-1/2 inch Westinghouse TV with a built in "electronic magnifier" is a hoot.

Just go to the link and scan down the category list to Classic TV. If you click on "movies" in the green banner at the top of the page you'll also find a couple of thousand movies too.

Just a word of caution This site can be addicting! ENJOY! :D
