Shirley Mclaine for Downton Abbey

Just heard Shirley Maclaine is joining the cast of Downton Abbey. I think she's playing Maggie Smith's daugher-in laws mother.

I read about Shirley MacLaine this morning. At first I was dismayed, she is very brash...but the more I think about it, as Cora's mother, she and Dame Maggie will go toe-to-toe, and it will be wonderful. Nouveau Riche American, Titled Gentry Brit. I am laughing even now!

Oh. no. "Very brash" is putting it mildly, Nancy. Somehow I wonder if we are about to see Shirley MacLaine do her version of The Unsinkable Molly Brown while visiting Downton Abbey.

I wonder if Shirley MacLaine and Maggie Smith will have any scenes together. At the end of season 2, Lady Mary was planning to travel to New York to visit her maternal grandmother, which is the role that everyone assumes MacLaine will be playing. I can't imagine Violet traveling to New York...

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS DOWNTON ABBEY???????? I caught it one time on a Sunday evening but haven't seen it since. They've had hour long English short film stories on but I cannot find DA anywhere. Will someone please tell me where it is and when it's on??? I wish it was on On Demand so I could catch up. All of the movie rental places around here are gone with the wind.
