A quick google search showed that this line "I Steal" comes from the film I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang. I'm going to look around for that one.

I agree, red, it's a good test case, especially for those who look down their noses at classic film, those who think that the films are all some silly namby pamby, Hollywood style romance. it's still shocking!

In White Heat (1949), while observing a sudden fist fight involving FBI plant Edmund O'Brien and another convict in prison that breaks out in line while the prisoners are waiting to get a vaccination, a dead-eyed con administering the shot murmurs, "Who's that reindeer?"

I love that line and had never noticed it before, despite years of viewing this movie.

O'Brien, whose character Hank Fallon seems bizarrely dedicated to being incarcerated, earlier observes to his copper pal: "Phil, look at me. College degree, lovable personality, and I spend most of my time in prison. An undercover specialist. Eight sentences in five years. Dannemora, Sing Sing, Leavenworth. I joined the department to put criminals behind bars, and here I am stir crazy."

Maybe Cody Jarrett wasn't the only guy with a major screw loose?

Love that quote Moira gave us from White Heat - Edmond O'Brien telling us in a couple of lines what his character is. That's good writing.

It was right after the earthquake, when his staff was trapped in their office building and they were trying to rig up a chair with a fire hose to lower people to safety. He ended up asking all the women to contribute their pantyhose to the effort.
