Name That Classic Film Figure?
Hi all--
One of our members from France, Georges (who posts here as Sterling) asked us to take a look at a photo of an actress who looks very familiar to me, though I can't quite place her. I'll be posting this on Facebook too to help with the search. Could anyone else please help name the lady? Thanks in advance for any tries.

She kind of reminds me of Frances Rafferty, but I don't think that's the one. Hmmm.

Good guess, PT. So far the suggestions for an identity from the Facebook page include a brunette Eve Arden and Ginny Sims, but not quite. Any other guesses?Professional Tourist wrote:She kind of reminds me of Frances Rafferty, but I don't think that's the one. Hmmm.
Frances Rafferty

Reminds me a little of Rosalind Russell circa His Girl Friday.

Me, too, Charlie! So far we haven't nailed this one, though I can see all the similarities in her face. I just keep thinking we know this lady from somewhere, but just can't quite place her.CharlieT wrote:Reminds me a little of Rosalind Russell circa His Girl Friday.

Hi,
When I first spotted this picture and before I read the post, I thought it was Lucille Bremmer.....
But, now I really don't know.

It looks like she is wearing a robe and in a communications room.
Perhaps either an espionage or World War II drama where she is using the radio on the sly?

She looks a bit like a cross between Joy Page and Gale Sondergaard.

Georges, I think you may have it at last!! Marjorie Weaver was in the 13 part serial, The Great Alaskan Mystery (1944) and I believe the image you asked about may be her in that film. Here she is with Lloyd Nolan in Just Off Broadway (1942) that offers a good comparison:sterling wrote:hello, everybody

Re: Name That Classic Film Figure?
hello, Moira
I went to see some videos of Alskan Mysteries, and the similitude is very close, and she is once in front of a radio engine!!! with clothes very near to the style of the pic, so it could have bee a promotionnal picture for the series. I think very luckyl ,having thought about her, and it shouls really be her
what are people think here??
best, Georges
