Another question to my British buddies

Post by mrsl »

.
I literally screamed "Oh NOOOOO" at my television last night at the end of Gently at the Cathedral. Here they don't say what series (season) is playing but I'm wondering if that was the way they ended the George Gently series. If so, it was really too harsh. Does he recover (?), or is that truly the end of my very favorite. John Shaw is so precious, he reminds me of my favorite teddy bear when I was a child. Somebody, please let me know if he is in anything else..

Anne

Martin Shaw has been in several tv shows, he even played Elvis on stage.

I first saw him in the 70s in a supporting role as the unfaithful husband in Helen A Woman Of Today. Around that time he and Lewis Collins played villains in an episode of The New Avengers, which was significant as both actors were soon signed up for The Professionals with Gordon Jackson, a series I've often mentioned on this forum. Many of the episodes were and hopefully still are on You Tube.

Another popular series he did was Judge John Deed, with Jenny Seagrove and Donald Sinden where he plays a maverick, but honest Judge. There was also the police drama The Chief. He also played factual characters Captain Scott and Cecil Roades in 2 seperate mini-series

There is also a grim war movie Operation Daybreak with Timothy Buttons, Anthony Andrews and Nicola Paget

Stuart:

Thank you so much for your reply. I'll have to check out UTube to see if I can find some of Mr. Shaws work. I'm really going to miss old George Gently.

Anne, I just went to acorntv.com to see if that was the last episode. Looks like ther is another season, season 6, available. I had a thirty day free trial, then subscribed for $4.99 a month. I watch on my computer, my tv is old enough to not have internet capabilities.

Thought you might want to know.

Thanks to you also for your quick response, although I see I again used the wrong first name. How could I mistakenly use John instead of Martin Shaw?, especially after I specifically said he was a favorite of mine. Well I guess all I can say is . . . senior moment!
