The most surprising Lee Marvin performance for me is his work as Hickey in "The Iceman Cometh." He is great and it shows a side of Lee Marvin that I never suspected.
The movie is being shown as part of the tribute to Fredric March, who is superb as Harry Hope. It is a long ordeal, but "the Iceman Cometh" is well worth watching.

I'm through the first two episodes of "M Squad." It reminds me of "Dragnet" with attitude. Lee Marvin narrates a good deal of the story which seems somewhere between Jack Webb and Philip Marlowe. Marvin walks around (a lot) in an ill fitting suit chain smoking all the way.
Forensic science is a big part so far. Some familiar faces already. The film quality seems washed out. It is interesting to see Marvin in a lead role before we really made a name for himself.
Looking forward to more.
