AFI Best Gangster Movies

The AFI has posted a list of the top ten Gangster movies (Noir is apparently not a category.)

1) The Godfather
2) Goodfellas
3) The Godfather Part II
4) White Heat
5) Bonnie and Clyde
6) Scarface (Hawks)
7) Pulp Fiction
8) The Public Enemy
9) Little Caesar
10) Scarface (DePalma)

No "Mean Streets"? No "Angels With Dirty Faces"? Still, I am surprised that Hawks' film placed so high on the list. Usually most people don't know it exists.

This list is at least a nice combination of older and more recent choices.

I like Pulp Fiction, but it would never make any top gangster film list for me.

I see violence was the main qualifier on that list. So mine will be mighty tame because I prefer story and character (Godfather had that but I still find it too heavy, if beautifully photographed. And I prefer Part II over I). My list includes spoofs.
