Crime Wave - Hank Worden

Post by ken123 »

This Andre deToth directed noir ( well maybe ) starred Sterling Hayden, Gene Nelson, and Phyliss Kirk. Hank Worden has a small role, the commentators, on the DVD, laugh at his performance and think that he is an awful actor. :o

I didn't think that commentators Eddie Muller and James Ellroy enjoyed the movie, the actors or the story quite as much as they did seeing Los Angeles in the early '50s on film. It makes the commentary track on that film odd listening. I don't think that Hank Worden believed he was an actor, exactly, though I love his brief presence in any movie--especially when it is unexpected as it is here at the airport. Btw, Ken, we discussed this movie before here.

I think this Andre de Toth movie is a pip and probably influenced every frame of Stanley Kubrick's much better known The Killing!
