The Wonderful Joan Sims

Post by stuart.uk »

Sorry for repeating myself, because I did a thread on Joan before.

Fellow Carry-On star Barbara Windsor paid Joan the complement of say she could play play both plain and glamorous roles. In this I wholeheartedly agree.

Her plain roles include Doctor In The House and Carry-On Nurse.
However, she looked beautiful when in Nurse On Wheels, even managing to look better IMO than the films star Juliet Mills, Carry On regardless and Carry-On Camping, where she even IMHO looked more attractive than Babs Windsor herself, despite the fact the films highlight is when BWs bikini explodes off while doing stretching excersises

In her later yrs, she did become internationally known for As Time Goes By. She was also Dennis Waterman's housekeeper in the sit com On The Up, where her catchphrase was Only The One, when offered a drink.

PS I know he's not well known to you, but Joan's fellow Carry-On star Jack Douglas passed away recently

Right on about Sims. A great actress and very attractive when younger AND THINNER.

I think her best work was as Peggy Mount's daughter in YOUR PAST IS SHOWING. They made a great team.
Sims looked really good in those CARRY ON films ... mel
